I am getting married in NYC (Brooklyn) on May 4th 2014. Since my venue has an outside area I wanted to have the cocktail hour outside (views of Manhattan sklyine). Since its the beginning of May I am a little worried that it might be 50-60 degrees (the cocktail hour will be from 6:30 – 7:30). My DOC suggested two double head electric radiant heaters and I am wondering if it will work (keep people warm).
Has anyone used outdoor space heaters? If so, what was your experience?

They do work, but you have to be close. I went to an outdoor wedding at night a few years ago, and it was quite chilly. Everyone just huddled around the heaters.

Honestly 50-60 degrees is not chilly and people just need to wear a light sweater or light jacket. I wouldn’t spend the money on outdoor heaters for that temp. Anything below 50 yeah probably…

50-60 isn’t chilly. i wouldn’t be too worried about people stepping outside and being cold.
i had my wedding in october and cocktail hour was in the ceremony space plus the 2 balconies off the side. it was chilly, but no one complained, they liked the fresh air.
but if you do get them, they do work, you just have to be close. i see them at bars with outside eating areas.
