I was finalizing our guest list and had forgotten to add me and the FI, I was sure that our meal would be complimentary but I called my venue and they said its not.  Is everyone paying for their own meals too or just in some cases?

Some venues do this but not all! My venue is definately not! They should though with all the $$$ we're spending. Some venues offer a free dinner on your 1st wedding anniversary, too, not mine!

Not at any venue I'd talked to! :)

I don't think FREE is a word that is in the wedding dictionary. I wish it was and I do think we should eat for free!

Nope.  We're charged for each and every meal (including our own).

I'm pretty sure the bride and groom are just considered guests in terms of head count at the wedding - I haven't heard of anyone who ate free!  Though it would be a nice gesture!

I havent heard of any bride and groom eating free either but it makes total sense to me if it was that way.  Its crazy we are spending all this money and no hook ups! Jeez!

Ours wasn't free either.  We did get free servers who actually put food on our plates for us and carried the plates to the table for us though!

Even if they did call the bride and groom's meals 'free' or 'complimentary', you know they'd just jack the price up on the others to cover the cost! Rosy is right, no such thing as 'free' in the wedding world!

We're getting free meals, but it was something we had to negotiate for before we signed the contract. I had seen it at one place, and afterwards, I was kind of insulted that people didn't think to throw in two free meals when we were going to be paying for 250 of them.

Most of the bride / groom couples I know ate for free.... and when it was a buffet (very common) it didn't apply. I think I will go the buffet route if I ever get married! More social, more choice, and generally cheaper!

My venue is definitely not offering us a free meal! We even have to pay for our tasting! Yikes!

We were for sure included in our guest count. My venue doesn't even offer real vendor meals, they feed them off the kids menu! We opted to put our vendors in with our regular guests.
