Yes!  When a friend started dating a girl (who is now his wife), my other friend would always introduce them as siblings and everyone always believed him!  They do look a lot alike, though.

There are a lot of studies out there that suggest we look for people who look like us, it happens all the time! My fiance has been mistaken for my brother before.

When I’m with my mom everyone tells me I look just like her and when I’m with my dad they say I look just like him… I think it’s because they look alike!

>_> People sometimes say this about FH and I… but we live in Korea and you know how you hear people in the US sometimes make those awful “all asians look alike” comments? Well the funny side is that you get the opposite here, Korean people sometimes saying “all white people look the same.” So that might have something to do with it.

@Bebealways:  That theory has been backed up by scientific research too! People of different race have a harder time recognizing faces of the other race. It’s not just stereotyping.

@Bebealways:  That’s so crazy that Korean’s think all americans look alike! But I guess it seems just as crazy to you that Americans say that about Koreans.

OP: My uncle & his wife look so similar! Both the same skin tone, hair color, and bone structure!

@Bebealways:  we’ve had a few Chinese exchange students, and most of them say the same thing about white people looking alike.

I know a lot of couples who look alike.  My husband and I don’t look like brother and sister, as he has very Jewish features while I’m a mix of my hispanic mom and anglo dad.  We’re a similar type, though, in that we have similar coloring, dress similarly, and even have similar glasses.

there’s no way DH and I could possibly ever look like siblings, but people might believe I was adopted? I have no accent and I’m foreign lol

Yes – my high school ex & I!  I didn’t think we looked that much alike, but when we dated we had a few people mistake us for siblings.  10 years later, I visited that city again and went wine tasting with him and another female friend.  The server once again asked us if we were siblings.  So odd.  Never had that with anyone else.

And I look like very much like my mom, enough that I almost didn’t have to show ID when getting my marriage license in a small town and their builder said “oh you must be [mom’s name]’s daughter when I showed up to see their house w/o them around.

Aside from our height (theres more than a full foot difference), I’ve been told that DH and I look alike. Dark brown hair, blue eyes. And I’ve always heard that the longer you’re together, the more alike you become, developing the same habits, maneurisms, and even speech patterns. I’ve met lots of elderly couples who look freakishly alike.
