Many of the venues that I’m looking at have Black friday Sales going on, but we’ve only been engaged for a month and we just started looking at venues. We haven’t seen enough places to make a decision so soon. Do places offers sales again around christmas time? Does anyone know? I’ll feel a little better if I pass up these sales knowing there will be more in the near future. We’ll have to book soon anway before my dates are all booked up. (any Friday in March 2016) Thanks!

You’re lucky they even offer Black Friday sales! We were engaged last Novemeber and no offered up sales due to the holidays. I would read the fine print of these places to see what is and what isn’t included. Sometimes they offer more basic packages in hopes that you’ll upgrade things later. We booked our venue within a month of engagement, but we knew what we wanted. I spent time emailing about 6-8 places and then we visted the three we liked the most before making a decision. Our engagement was also much shorter. You have time to wait and shop around unless these venues are very popular.

My 1st daughter’s venue had published price lists for discounts for Friday and Sunday evenings and Saturday afternoons. She chose the Sunday night of Memorial Day weekend, and saved around $50 per person, off the regular rate. She booked 13 months out and practically every Saturday night from May – Sept. was already booked, anyway.
My 2nd daughter chose the Sunday night of Labor Day weekend and didn’t get one cent off in discounts. The venue is very popular and I’m sure they’re at capacity regardless of what they charge.
We have friends whose son booked a center city hotel, for his reception and saved a lot, even though its on a Saturday night in May, because they booked about a year and a half in advance.

I agree w PP — its unusual to get a black friday or christmas sale especially for dates that are furthur out. Its more common to see up coming dates that haven’t sold up for a discount (ie we have 3 sundays and 1 saturday in march 2015 left so they are 30% off if you book by dec 2014)

I’ve never seen black friday (or christmas) sales for venues or any other vendors.

I’d say try to go see a couple of the places if possible and take advantage of the sale. From what I’ve seen, venues don’t really do sale events or promotions often.
