I was a reader recently in a wedding and honestly until I read this post it didn’t occur to me that I didn’t get a gift.  So I wasn’t bothered by it.  The couple didn’t have a formal RD it was just them, the bridal party, the usher and my husband and I.  They paid for all of our food and drinks and just verbally thanked everyone.  I know the bride gave the two bridesmaids a gift the morning of the wedding.

i think a heartfelt note would be very nice. i’m with vintage–it didn’t occur to me to give a gift to a reader (not that it’s bad), but yes, i think a card is completely appropriate.
