at my old job, i would wear sky high heels (some 5 inches) for my entire 9 hour shift.
i think they hurt at first, but after a couple months my feet just got used to it.
i don't really feel sexy without heels. i feel like they make my legs look longer and leaner and my butt look better. now, i don't even realize i am wearing heels and could wear them day after day after day. :)
hubby's only about an inch taller than me and gets sensitive about it, so i happily stopped wearing heels when we began dating, almost 5 years ago! i have a couple pairs of low/kitten heels, and on some special occasions i break out higher heels, but usually i wear flats
Have you ever worn any BCBG? I could wear them all day and like heatherrobyn said, I love my legs and rear in them.
I live in "flip flops" but loooove putting on heels whenever there's a good excuse to! (It's hard to play dress up here without people giving you funny stares). It's hard to adjust to wearing heels when you're in flip flops most of the time, so I try to buy heels only when I can afford to pay extra for comfort :)
Yeah, I have a bunch of cute high heels but I can't wear them for long. They hurt my feet. I don't have to work in heels, so I only wear them when I go out to bars. I wonder how girls do it all day. I just don't have to wear them that often to get my feet used to them.
I love wearing high heels. I wish I could wear then to work but being a chemistry teacher it's not practical or safe (chemicals). I wear them every weekend though!
I used to wear heels but I had foot surgery last summer and now I can't. They dig into my scar and kill my feet!
I wear heels most days at work, although 90% of my day is sitting at a desk.
Like others, I have really just gotten used to them. Sometimes at the end of a really long day when I have been running around a lot my feet do hurt. But pain is beauty! ;)
I hate heels. they're so pretty but they just kill my feet. I avoid wearing them when at all possible.
I wear high heels at work and they never really bother me although I sit a lot. The only time heels really hurt are when I'm breaking in a new pair.
I wear high heels to work every day. But like @Bostongrl25, I spend the majority of my day at my desk, so it's not like I'm walking around all day. Since I have my own office and a big wooden desk no one can see under, I often take them off throughout the day.
But if I happen to go out where there is a lot of walking involved, I'll start to hurt. I'd never wear heels to the mall. What amazes me is girls I see at amusement parks or at festivals in sky high heels.. I wear heels every day and don't know how they do it.
I miss my high heels, couple of years ago I got into them with fun funky styles and colors. Now that for my job I work from home I don't have a need for them. It makes me sad :( I have all these heels and no where to wear them.
@Neva: Yes, the people wearing heels at like the grocery store amaze me. My grandmother is one of these people, she swears flats hurt her feet.
I wish there was another option--some of my heels hurt and others don't, but I wear them anyway cause they are cute and make me feel dressed up. I wear heels about 3-4 days a week. I have a desk job, but I wear them when I go out to eat or to church or whatever as well. I love heels, but I switch between heels, boots and flats--mostly taking into consideration if I worked out hard the day before or how much I'll be on my feet.
wedding related, I wore 3.5 inch heels so I didn't have to hem my dress. They were fine--but I already owned the shoes.
I really dont mind wearing high heels. I think they are just fine but after several hours I am happy to take them off. I wear high heeled boots to work every day and at my old job I wore pumps while walking around a lot.
I love high heels!! I wear them pretty frequently, unless I know I'm going to be walking a lot. Some pairs hurt, some don't at all.
@LGenz: i have a cousin who says the same thing. She works in an office but she walks around a lot and is always in at least 3 inch heels. She swears that after a little while her calf muscles must have shrunk or something because she says that when she wears flats her calves ache like they are too stretched. Of course, she's also like 97 pounds which I think helps with the heels wearing.
I would wear heels at work if it was practical but it isn't so I don't. Haha, "What Not To Wear" got me to wear heels more. Like any shoe you have to find what is comfortable.
I wear heels every day. My feet actually hurt when I change into flats after wearing heels (I think it's from being propped up all day to flat on the floor, stretches weird, hurts, I dunno lol)
I live in heels! I wear them to work every day, they just make an outfit look so much better! I find that certain brands are really comfortable- enzo angiolini, and michael kors (the pressly pump is the most amazing yet simple shoe ever). It's actually killing me that my fiance is the same height as me and I'll have to wear flats on my wedding day.
I also hate high heels... but wasn't as smart as you and wore some on wedding day. My feet killed! Luckily I brought a pair of flats to wear during the reception.
I pretty much never wear heels. I can't stand them. I'm on my feet a lot, I walk a few miles every day, and love my flats! Also, as an athlete, I swear heels are bad for your feet. When I change into my running shoes at the end of the day, I don't want to feel pain before the workout even begins!
I am jelous of women who rock heels though, they definitely look sexy! It's just not me.
I love wearing heels, and most of them are pretty comfortable (when they fit right). My issue is that I feel self concious because I'm so tall, so I am at least 6'3" with heels. People that don't know me tend to stare! haha
I find high heels almost always very uncomfortable.
I have one or two that I went out of my way to find the most comfortable I possibly could. Rubber bottoms, giving material, no funny straps that push in weird places---and they STILL hurt my feet after about 20 minutes of standing.
But then I have flat feet and have always had problems finding good comfortable shoes that look cute. I'd much rather find a cute flat than suffer through finding heels.
Oh hell no. Heels hurt and I'm already tall. I'll take comfy flats any day of the week. I'm so happy that flat boots and shoes are in style.
I cannot live without my heels! And they have to be at least 3", they make my legs look a bit longer. ;) I wear them everywhere, including to the grocery store or to check the mail lol. Even in this icy midwest snowstorm, I'm wearing high heeled boots muahaha. Flats actually make my feet (and back) hurt much worse.
I love wearing heels! I make sure to try them on before I buy; I will not buy uncomfortable heels. I love the way they look, how they make me feel sexy and how they make me taller.
*Sigh* I only wish I could wear high heels. I love how they look. But whenever I do, my feet always land on the edge of the heel and I do the whole ankle-twist-foot-slipping-out-from-under-me rountine.
Plus I look like the hunch back of notre dame when I'm walking in them cause I'm so focused on not doing the slipping thing I overcompensate by hunching over and bending my knees.
My sister and my mom wore 3 to 4 inch heels to work every day, all day long. Obviously I wasn't given the gift to wear heels like they do. :)
I wore heels daily in high school, then I went to college and discovered sweatpants. Since then, I cannot wear heels for very long or pretty much any hard shoe! I end up with blisters and cuts on my foot in such awkward places that I might not be able to wear shoes comfortably for awhile.
I have the shoe tape that you put inside on the back of heels, as well as little gel pads and no matter what, I haven't found anything to work. Unfortunately I chose a suit career and would like if my feet were dressed up more.
I love to wear high heels, i don't wear them often because my fh is only taller than me by like 2 inches. I sometimes wish he would grow a couple more inches so i don't feel so akward wearing them when we go out.
I used to wear heels every day. Then I bought a couple pairs of super cute flats and I can't bring myself to put heels on in the morning! I defeatedly choose the flats and in my head all I can hear is "Flats are for quitters." Sighhh. I sure miss feeling sexy and cute.
I like them for the first hour or two. Then I hate them. It depends a lot on the shoe though. I can wear my boots for longer than my other heels.
If they rub a blister or break my skin, I cannot stand them. They will never be worn again.
Well, as a NYC'er, I can't bear the thought of not having lots of pretty heels to wear and I have a lot. I don't have that much space in my apartment but I have stacks of heels. My FI laughs at me. I don't wear them for hours. I always have sneakers in my bag to change into. I don't walk around a lot for work either. I couldn't wear them to go any kind of shopping. I don't like to wear flip flops either. I'd rather wear sneakers. But I love the way I look in heels. I think they make my legs look so much hotter, especially in dresses and skirts.
For those who wear heels all the time for several hours a day, sorry to say this but if you talk to ladies in their 50's, many of them will tell you that they paid for thier heel wearing days with lots of pain now they are older. I always keep that in mind.
I feel a lot sexier when I wear heels - I feel like when I wear flat shoes I look frumpy (especially in a dress). But they hurt! But I'll take the pain for beauty!
I have NO grace in flats. I also trip over my own feet when wearing anything without a heel of SOME sort!
However, I have a little problem with my feet: they spasm HORRIBLY (and I'm talking teeth-grinding, severe pain horrible... and I have a VERY HIGH tolerance for pain, too). Heels make it kinda worse, but it's been known to happen when I wear flats, so I'm pretty much damned either way, lol.
Oh, and yeah, wearing heels WILL help you loose weight if you do a lot of walking. I had gained weight with my son (he's 8 now) and was working as an IT tech at a college. Had to walk EVERYWHERE. I began work in January and didn't start loosing the weight until that spring when I started wearing heels.
By the end of the summer, I'd lost my baby weight! So, yeah, highly recommend it for loosing weight!

Am I the only one who cannot stand to wear high heels? They hurt my feet so bad that after about 5 minutes I just end up taking them off. I can *maybe* do a wedge since those tend to be more comfortable. It sucks because I do think heels are cute and I would love to wear them on my wedding day, but I think I'm going to have to stick with flats. What are your thoughts on high heels?
