I take my ring off to work, shower, sleep, swim, and when I go to the gym.

@slpbee: Congratulations on your engagement. I take mine off to swim, clean, shower etc. I have a trinket box where I put it if I’m going to be doing any of those things. My nightmare is losing it in a swimming pool and not realising until long after.

I only wear it when I go out. I take it off as soon as I get home from work. I don’t wear it when I clean, workout, shower, cook, go to the shore, etc., so it’s easiest to just not wear it more than I wear it.

@slpbee:  I never, ever, ever take it off.  Not even to play golf or wear gloves.  The one exception is when my mom guilts me into helping her cook and I have to use raw meat.  I don’t want that bacteria to get in my ring, because mine is actually pretty hard to clean and there are a lot of places for germs to hide.  Normally it isn’t a problem since I don’t eat meat.

@slpbee:  I’m interested to see what other bees do. I think this would be a good poll!

I’m not engaged yet but I do have a promise ring and I do take it off at home. It is a little uncomfortable so I can’t sleep in it and I feel like it weighs on my finger even though really, it’s small & lightweight. I’ve told my SO that I will probably do the same with my e-ring but when we get engaged I want to get one of those frames with a hook to hook the e-ring on if I’m not wearing it, or one of those necklaces that you can put the ring on and it’s secure…or just a specific holder of some sort so that I won’t lose it. I’m bad about putting my promise ring down wherever I am at the moment I take it off & it ends up all over the house. lol

ETA: WOW a lot of bees answered while I was typing! I guess that happens when you write a novel lol

Only take it off to shower, do any kind of cleaning with chemicals that could get under it and irritate, and when I work out.

The showering is really just practical, it doesn’t get dirty nearly as quickly, and I’ll usually actually clean it at that point.

I always have it on because I have the WORST memory when it comes to putting jewelry back on! I would probably go weeks without wearing it before I finally remembered to get it.

I just like to think that since I wear it for everything, it’s gets a good bath at least once a day;)

i dont wear my e-ring to shower , clean , workout, garden, play sports. The jeweler explained that  abrasive chemicals and sweat can scratch/ ruin the setting (even platinum)and could they could deposit on the stones which require more cleanings. To each is their own I have designated place where I put my ring every time I take if of so I always know where to find it.

My wedding ring comes off when I clean, swim, shower, etc.  Sadly my engagment ring is only worn on weekends because I have to wear gloves at work.
