By matching I mean same gold color. Mine loves white gold and I love yellow gold. I feel like there’s no unity if we get different colors. I get that people do it al the time, but I guess I always envisioned us having the same color. Post your mismatched gold ring sets with your SO to make me feel better about it? Thank 🙂 P.S. I’m new to the community so feel free to say “hi” 🙂

@RoseEcho211: I get what you are saying but I don’t think having different colored wedding bands takes away from “unity”. My FI has black carbon fiber on his and mine is white gold with diamonds. I say get what you each want, matching or not!

@RoseEcho211: Hi and welcome 🙂 But to answer your question no, my husband is allergic to metal, so he has a ceremic band and I have a white gold one.

@RoseEcho211: I felt the same way you do in the beginning! I wanted us both to have white gold bands. However he really fell in love with black titanium, he is an engineer and the shape plus metal really fit him. It just became more important that each of us have a ring that fit our personalities. I am buying myself a black titanium band for when I go to the gym so we’ll match then 🙂 I don’t have any pictures just yet of our bands since we just got married!

We are going to have matchng rings, but for a completely different reason – we are having my parents rings melted down and made into ours so that some of my dad’s is in mine

DH wanted a solid gold band, and that is what he got. i have a platinum band with channel diamonds to match my ering.

@RoseEcho211: Nope! I have yellow gold, and my husband has white gold. Matching was really never an option for us, but it is a sweet idea.

We specifically wanted bands that matched. So yes, we both have YG plain weddings bands.
I originally wanted platinum, but DH said that he always imagined his wife wearing yellow gold (like his mom’s). So, we got YG and I’m very glad we did! It’s so warm!

Nope we will not be matching. My E-Ring is white gold and he wears an aggie ring that is yellow gold. So he will get a yellow gold (or two tone) band and I will have white gold. No biggie to us if we both like what we are wearing.

We both have white gold, so that matches. The styles are totally different of course and don’t really match per say.
It seems silly now, but for some reason I thought it would be nice to have matching gold types for our rings. Really, it doesn’t matter, lol.

I got a white gold engagement ring and fell in love with an eternity band to wear with it. FI wanted a yellow gold band at first, but then his favorite idea ended up being white and yellow gold together. So I’ve decided to get my eternity band in yellow gold. 🙂 I like that we’ll match a little, but in no way do I think it’s important, if that hadn’t worked out or I didn’t like yellow gold at all, so be it. The most important thing is we both love our rings.

Yup, we bought the same rose gold bands 🙂

in our little minds matching rings means “we’re married to each other” rather than just “we’re married”, so matching was a necessity.
otherwise what if we go out and some other guy’s ring is a match with mine, and some random girl matches with his? I know it shouldn’t matter but… we’d like to avoid that as much as possible. nuts?!

Thanks for all the posts ladies. I didn’t know if matching was “old fashioned” but it’s what I’ve always envisioned growing up. We will probably get what we each like (YG for me and WG for SO). Kafrine, you have a lovely wedding band! I’ll keep you posted on what we get, but I’m sure it will be a while. We’re both still in college anyway and want to celebrate being together after we’re done with school.

@RoseEcho211: First, welcome to the community! Second, I don’t think you need to have the same colour to match – you can have a similar design or style in different colour gold, or you can even have an inscription on the inside!
My SO really wants a plain yellow gold band. I must confess, I am considering having my band be yellow as well, or a mixed metal like yellow & gold. I like the idea of matching with him 🙂
