My FI thinks it’s hilarious/weird that I refuse to answer the door unless I know exactly who it is and why they are there. Basically only if I’m expecting a friend. If it’s a stranger, I hide. I can’t be the only one!
I’ve seen too many episodes of 48 Hours where an intruder gained access to someone’s home by pretending to be selling something or pretending to have car trouble and needing to use a phone or something. Hell. No. I am not opening my door for ANY reason.
Are you just as paranoid as me? If you do open the door, do you have a weapon near by? Am I totally crazy?

It depends. At my apartment if they didn’t buzz first, then no.
In the house, if I’m reasonable clothed and it’s a reasonable hour and it looks like they might be there for a good reason, sure. Most of the time I don’t wear a bra at home though

Youre not crazy!! Lol! When I lived with my parents they had an iron “screen” door on the outside and a wooden door on the inside. Id open the wooden one and ask what they want. Sometimes people would get annoyed because they couldnt see who they were talking but better safe than sorry!!
Now I live onbase with my husband and I feel safer leaving the doors open. Plus having dogs around is awesome because they can hear someone walking up before you even notice! 🙂

Back when I lived in a house in a super small town, yes I would, usually they were just selling something and I’d send them on their way. Now that I live in an apartment in a large city (with controlled building access), I’d just yell through the door asking what they want.

I rarely open the door for anyone, especially if I am home alone. If my FI is home with me sometimes I will. I’m too short for the peephole. 🙂

@AB Bride: the best thing about being at home is not having to wear a bra! 🙂
@Metalkisses: we have a security door too and I still won’t open the wooden one. Maybe if FI were home… but probably not. I need a dog!!
@SweetFlower: haha! Geography may have something to do with it too. Maybe I wouldn’t get to anxious if I didn’t live in LA.

i have for sure but i go with my gut. or really, i’ll only answer it if i feel like they already heard me or know i’m home lol for some reason i feel safer in my current apt than i do in a house though

Yes. Usually it’s someone trying to sell me something, at which point I tell them to get the hell off my property. Our neighbors usually text each other if they see someone trying to lurk around the neighborhood, so if it’s someone sketchy I don’t answer.
My part wolf dog is usually right next to me helping encourage the person to go away 😉

@BruinBeeMPH: I dont, especially at night. if it was a kid or an old lady I probably would during the day, but it would depend. We also have a ton of religious groups that go door to door so when I see them you bet I am hiding in the bedroom.

@mrsmeyers84: we have one of those doors with the beautiful glass design in the middle. I love the way it looks but I hate that you can see if someone’s moving behind it. I’d rather have a peephole, although I’d probably be too short for it too 🙂

Nope. I don’t need Jesus, I don’t want whatever they’re selling, and I prefer not to be robbed.

I totally hide. There was one time I was home alone and I was in the living room, clearly visible from the door window and a guy knocked, and I just completely fell to the floor trying to play dead. I know he had to have saw me.
Oh, but I also like turtles. I actually call one of my dogs Turtle as a nickname.

Nope. Not even the UPS guy. I hide until he leaves.

Nope. I definitely do something similar. If I’m not expecting a package or company, I pretend I’m not home. If it’s important, the person will call me on my cell

@allyfally: I literally just LOLed.
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who hides!
