I have a 2 week old, and I constantly catch myself calingl him Bubba! Out of nowhere. No intentions of ever calling anyone Bubba. His actual name has nothing to do with it. Now my husband is pickin up on it and calls him Bubba as well.

Yes! I call our 6 month old Chicky, Cutie, and Boo. DH calls her Booper/Little Pooper. We both call her Ry (short for Riley). We call her by nicknames so often that she hasn’t quite learned her real name yet…oops! It’s just so hard not to call her a nickname because she’s so cute!

one of my pet names for FI is Sugar Booger. I have no idea where that came from or why, and it’ll roll off my tounge and them I’m like “uh…what?”, haha. We call our car Stinko, too, which isnt really nice. His name is Rico and when we adopted him he kinda stank. That was almit’s two years ago and he doesnt stink anymore, obviously, but the nickname stuck.

Haha I’ve just recently started working in childcare and I normally HATE pet names but I keep catching myself calling the kids chicken or monkey. No idea why! I’m sure I’ll come up for some great ones when I have kids of my own.

Miy FI calls me bean and I regularly call him lovely pocket or sometimes even pocket face… I have no idea why!

I just call DH ‘husband’. We did pet names in years before (Woobie, Pookie, Goober, Turnip, Honey, etc.), but after we married (after almost 12 years), I got a kick out of just ‘husband’… it feels good. “Husband, can you reach the top shelf for me?” Sometimes it’s ‘tall husband’, lol. OAN, I call our DD Boog, or Poo(per).

Lol! These are hilarious! DH and I have never had pet names other than “baby”. But we do call our cats an array of ridiculous things: the stinks, stinky butts, the stinky things, ratfinks, bratfinks, bratfinkies, widdely stinks, and more. They actually do not smell bad hahahhahaha! I’m afraid for when we have kids!

OMG, I always hated the nickname “sweetheart” for a SO. It just seemed so cheesy, and long. Now, I almost EXCLUVISVELY call my FI “my sweetheart”. Dude… what happened to me??? LOL

We call our dd Squishy or Squish. For some reason before she was born we thought we’d call her RyRy (her name is Riley) but now it’s Squishy.

cpick: my mom calls me bean too. it started when i was a baby and she didn’t want to use my real name in public. jill –> jilly bean –> bean
when DH and I get pregnant we will be team green and I plan to refer to the baby as bean until it is born and we have a real name for it. then who knows what nicknames will follow.

My youngest son was known as Booboo until 2. Dad called him that cause he was a c section baby and gave mom a ‘Booboo’ lol

I call my kitten “piglet”.
Whilst my beloved Ginger was still alive, I used to call him “big squeaker” and the kitten “little squeaker”, but I don’t do that any more.
