I didn’t at first. I was happy to leave a CZ in the mount until later. He was not satisfied with that and insisted on finding a diamond before proposing.

Nope! In fact, I picked my engagement ring out. Unfortunately I didn’t have the whole surprise proposal thing because he’s not good at being subtle and wanted to make sure he got the right ring..I mean I knew it was going to happen but not exactly when. Anyway, he was going to buy me a gorgeous $5,000 ring when he saved up enough for the down payment and I expressed my gratitude because it was the perfect ring..but I pointed out we could spend that money on the wedding itself, or a house. And then we found an almost identical ring that had cubic zirconia instead for about $4,900 cheaper..and it’s my baby 🙂

Of course, my then roommate threw a FIT when she found out I didn’t demand diamonds, but that’s another story!

Honestly, I would prefer a diamond.  I don’t know if that makes me seem greedy or something.  That isn’t it at all.  I am very traditional and I think a diamond is a traditional symbol for a ring. I also think they are beautiful and would love to receive one from the man who loves me.  It does not have to be big or expensive though!!

I’m not against other people getting jewels other than diamonds, but I, myself, would prefer a diamond.

When we have the money, probably on one of our anniversaries, he wants to replace the cz with real diamonds, but i’m content to wait..after all, it’s what the ring symbolizes, not the pricetag.

I love my diamond, but I honestly wouldn’t care – as long as it looked nice and came from the heart!  for some reason, I think guys care more about the diamond part than girls – maybe it proves something to them, like they can afford to take care of their woman.  or maybe they are just less educated on different gemstones.  just an observation.

I do not care if I have a ring or no ring, or if the ring is a diamond or some other colored precious stone, or no stone, or a pearl, or whatever variation of a ring is there. I would not want something that looks like a diamond unless it is a real diamond, thought.  Just my personal opinion.

@veryberry13:  Nope! I’m still in college and my boyfriend supports us on his not-the-best salary. I have a diamond in my promise ring, but for my engagement ring, we’re getting a peach champagne sapphire.

Damn right I wanted a diamond lol. We can afford it, why not? We’re having a teeny tiny wedding so it’s not like we’re blowing any kind of budget either.

Personally, I do care if my stone in my Ering was a diamond or not — I love diamonds and definitely wanted one in my forever ring!

I love that people have different tastes, and some of these colored stones the bees share are beautiful.  But for ME, I absolutely care that if I’m going to wear a stone that looks like a diamond it better be a diamond!

@veryberry13:  I don’t have it yet! My boyfriend says he should have it by December 1st… and my birthday is the 3rd. So… we’ll see. I do have a picture of the setting I chose, though. Obviously that’s not the center stone, and the head/basket is going to be a little different.
