With everything being online, I don't think it's uncommon at all. It's still a 'surprise!', regardless of when you find out!
I checked mine a bit in the beginning, but just be warned that it will completely kill any excitement. It's one thing to register a few months prior, and then show up to a shower and find out that Aunt Sue got you the waffle maker. It's another to register, and then find out the day before your shower that the waffle maker was purchased, and then the next day at the shower, you are like "Oh, ok, it's from Aunt Sue."
Like I said, I checked it a lot in the beginning, but as I approached my shower and gifts were being purchased frequently, I stopped checking it all together and it made gift-receiving more fun!
There are others who check it every day and love it!!!! It depends on what you think is more fun!
I wish I could say that I don't. But I do. Did today. And my shower is three weeks away (nothing was even purchased, which is no surprise). I still have time to reform, though!!!
I checked ours periodically. Oddly, items were purchased from our C&B registry which were never gifted to us! What is that about?!
It's harmless and for me it was part of the fun. Plus, you can get a head start on your thank yous. :)
I check mine. My excuse is that we have most of our stuff in two places: an online registry with Amazon, and a brick and mortar store (Target, Home Depot, BBB). Thus, if someone buys something off of one registry, I need to remove it from the other registry. Yep, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it!
Lmao baffled111, that's really funny yet rude if you think about it because someone else could've bought you whatever it was but they didn't because someone took it off the list....
but still kind of funny. :) :)
I check mine constantly. In fact, I think my FMIL already bought something off it... to give me for my birthday! ;)
Hello, my name is Dragonsus and I am a registry stalker (Hi Dragonsus!)
Yeah, so I've been stalking our registries since we got them. It drives my Fiance nuts but I just can't help myself!
Registry stalkers annon. anyone??
Dragonsus - I will co-found a chapter with you! My shower invites started arriving today and guests texted/emailed/called to tell FI and I. So I checked our registries. TWICE. Because, you know, just in case someone bought something. Of course, no one did. Karma. I need help! ;)

We did our registries back in July. I have not looked at or updated them since a few weeks after we finished them in the store. I've recently (now that the invites have gone out) gotten some questions about where we are registered.
Now that I know that people have the information, is it wrong to check my registry? I wouldn't know who got us what...but I would know what we were getting...
I'm thinking that this is a pretty common thing, but maybe I'm wrong...
