I was just talking with a coworker who is in her mid-40's who said that she's never once colored her hair.  This totally surprised me, because most women I know color their hair fairly often.

I get my hair colored around every 6-8 weeks.  Currently, my hair is a little bit darker brown than my natural color with lowlights.  I'm going back in a couple of weeks and will probably get more highlights, since it's summer.  After a terrible incident with a self-highlighting kit on spring break in college, I ALWAYS get my hair professionally colored.

So, do you color your hair?  DIY or salon?

My husband has only seen my natural hair color in pictures.  I go to the salon every time.  I learned my lesson early on that the box can go very badly.

I work in a hair salon, so I get my hair coloured about every 6 weeks.... And it's always different haha, sometimes darker, sometimes just a few highlights, and sometimes i throw some platnium in there - whatever the flavour of the month is hehe.

I have very dark black hair that doesn't tend to show much color unless I do something VERY drastic... so it hasn't been worth it for me in recent years to get the burgundy highlights that I love, and I don't want to commit to anything brighter (so expensive to maintain!) so I've just let my hair grow naturally. The last of the color was cut off a long time ago, so my hair is totally natural now.

I stopped coloring mine about 3 years ago. I started coloring when I was 15 and one day just said the heck with it. I know I've saved a ton of money and considering how much hair I have you can hardly see the gray anyway :P

I've been coloring my hair since I've been 14, so about 12 years now! I find that my natural haircolor lacks aliveness (I know that's not a word, but I'm looking for it!)

It's been a dark purple for almost 4 years now with a blonde streak.

Mine isn't currently coloured at all. =) I used to get highlights put in, but then I got my hair cut short, and I just haven't picked up the habit again now that it's grown out. I only got them done 2 times a year, anyways (back to school and Christmas).

I used to go black, dark brown, and occasionally streaks of bright unnatural colors like fire engine red or blue. But i haven't dyed mine since about 2006 now. I will probably dye it after the wedding just for fun (I have the "itch" to do something different), but for now it's staying natural!

My hair has been colored since I was about 18. It's not that drastic of a change, but I like having my natural hair color with a bit of added dimension.

Have been coloring my hair black since early high school (use a natural dye)- it's the best color for me, though sometimes I have under-hair highlights of purple, burgandy, mahogany, or blue.

I used to color my hair a lot. Started senior year in high school. My natural hair color is dark brown, and over the years I dyed it dark red, auburn, reddish-brown, medium-brown, and golden-brown. I mainly did it when I got bored of my hair color, but it was annoying in the in-betweens, when the hair at the top of my head was dark brown, the middle kinda reddish, and the tips a bit blondish.

I haven't dyed my hair in about five years. Four years ago I had a very short haircut so the "residually colored" parts of my hair disappeared and my currently long hair is back to being dark brown, as it was originally. And now I'm bored with it, and debating whether to start dying it again or not :-P
