Not really a holiday I ever thought about decorating for......
Then again, I don't decorate for most holidays
@YSQueen: Yeah. I walked in the store the other day and saw a lot of V-Day and St. Patricks Day stuff, and I wondered "Why not decorate for Black History Month".
i never have. once we get our own home i plan on having some portraits of significant people year round anyway.
I don't decorate for Black History Month...never really thought about it. I have always had afro-centric art in my house: pictures, charcoal drawings, African masks, etc. When my daughter was in elementary school, her teacher asked to use some of the art and stuff from my home to do a display in the classroom. I don't really do anything special for Black History Month because I teach my daughter about her heritage all year.
I am curious though...what would you decorate with?
@JamaicaBride: I was thinking about putting a wreath up, but now that I think about it, I brought hubby some African decor for his apartment. I may use some of that stuff. Now that you mention it, I'm thinking about a way to incorporate it into our everyday decor around our house.
@trugem: Now that you mention wreath...I actually think it would be cute to hang a wreath on the door that has the faces of different black people known for different things. Hmmmm...might be a good craft project for me and my daughter.
@JamaicaBride: That sounds good. I may run to Hobby Lobby later to get some supplies.
Never thought to decorate. I'm waiting for the "28 days of great black men" on my friends Facebook page. He's white but has a black soul. Seriously. lol
@trugem: No, you really don't know. ha ha ha. You can't leave him in the room alone with a brown crayon because he would try to color his skin. In high school he told people he "has what Michael Jackson has. I'm really black." lol

I have been thinking about decorating my house for Black History Month (and pretty much every holiday). I can't seem to find any decor anywhere for it. I guess I may have to make a wreath or something.
