@IheartUFC:  I am a failure as a girl. I don’t know about any of this stuff. I’ve started getting regular facials but I would be terrified to put anything on my face with the word “acid” in it. Ouch!

The facials help the gross blackheads I get on my nose. I was also thinking of getting one of those Mia cleansers but I’ve heard such mixed reviews. I don’t have wrinkles yet but want to do what I can to prevent them.

@IheartUFC:  I am looking into this to even out skintone, are you going to a derm to do it or doing an at home peel?

@IheartUFC:  Jesus christ. I will take the wrinkles. No one is putting acid on me!

I have not done acid peels, they kind of scare me actually.  I do use BHA and AHA products daily though, and they have improved my skin.  No burning, scabing or any other nasty side effects.

I don’t use any type of peels.. but I do use sugar scrubs and witch hazel to cleanse.

Well I’ll tell you I used to. However, I had a serious chat with my dermatologist about acid peels (professional and at home) and was shocked at how against them she was.

While some people can benefit from the occassional peel it is harsh (apparently) and in technical terms that I for the life of me cannot remember basically eats away at the collagen(?) or elastin (?) or something that our face needs to remain moisturized, healthy and youthful. Yeah sorry it was a few years ago. Anyway she suggested other methods of exfoliation like Retin-A and peels that use natural ingredients followed by a derm recommended moisturizer. Since taking her advise my skin has dramatically improved.

Not a peel, but I use a facial “resurfacer” from Neostrata. It’s a jar of exfoliating crystals and a chemical activator. It’s intense but it’s magical. My face feels like silk after and it makes everything very even. I also use an AHA toner, also neostrata. (I don’t use the two together, if I do a resurface I don’t use the AHA for a bit).

@IheartUFC:  I don’t even get regular facials, so a pricey chemical/acid/whatever peel is probably not going to happen.  I’m a simple girl: wash with soap and moisturize with an SPF lotion.  That’s my entire routine lol.

@IheartUFC:  Oh I don’t trust myself to do that, I get soap in my eye every time I wash my face lol.

@IheartUFC:  I get facials about every 2 months or so, but from now until my wedding I’m going to get them once a month. I have these little tiny pimples (I think that they are called milia and aren’t actually pimples) that are flesh colored and small and the facials really have helped to minimize them.

I also just recently started to use Juice Beauty products. I started out with their sensitive green apple peel and it’s been great. I use it about 3 times a week. http://www.juicebeauty.com/store/skin-care/shop-by-category/peels-and-serums/green-apple-peel-sensitive.html

ETA: It’s not an acid peel, it’s a natural one. I also use it in conjunction with their Exfoliating Cleanser which is awesome in the winter because it does not dry my skin out at all. http://www.juicebeauty.com/store/skin-care/shop-by-category/cleansers-and-toners/exfoliating-cleanser.html

Since I’ve been using their products, my skin has improved. I also use their blemish clearing serum, which is awesome as well. Everything is all natural.
