We don’t iron anything.. Sometimes before a wedding or something I will but I don’t even own an ironing board. I just iron my clothes on the floor. FI dry cleans all his work clothes, so we don’t need to worry about that.

I’m the ironer. However, there’s actually very little ironing that needs to be done because FI does the laundry 99% of the time and he’s very prompt with removing things from the dryer. Most of our clothes get neatly hung up right away so that eliminates a lot of wrinkles.

I don’t think you’re nuts. I think every couple finds a system that works for them. Sometimes that system involves ironing. 🙂

Right now we’re students so we don’t have much that needs ironing, but since my FI is a marketing student sometimes he has to dress up. In that case I’m in charge of ironing his shirts (: I don’t mind, he’s bad at it and I don’t want him to ruin them 😉 plus it’s kind of relaxing.

That’s what the dryer’s for. 15 minutes on high and an iron isn’t needed. I detest ironing and do whatever it takes to avoid it. However, if something has to be ironed, it’s all me.

I own an iron for crafting purposes, clothes that need to.be less wrinkled get thrown in the dryer with a wet wash cloth.

Okay, first things first.  DH doesn’t even know how to use an iron!  Haha.  Okay, I kid, i kid.  He knows how to use one because I’ve been on the phone with him when he’s been on business trips with him telling me he’s using an iron.

Secondly, I rarely iron myself, unless there’s some wrinkle I’m really annoyed with that I can’t get out.

@MrsSawyer:  Yeah I don’t think I’ve ironed anything in like 7 years, since I went on my first “real” job interview. I think we own an ironing board…maybe?

Early on, I did most of the ironing. I also did most of the laundry. Now, FI does most of the ironing (not that there is alot) and I still do most of laundry. Even if I don’t actually do the laundry, I still fold it and put it all away. Both his and mine.

    I hate ironing.

DH’s work clothes go to the cleaners, so it’s not an issue. I end up ironing some of my own clothes because we don’t have our own dryer (just a shared coin-op in the basement) so I can’t just stick something that’s wrinkly in for a few minutes. But I avoid it whenever I can!

We each do our own laundry, although I’m usually the one who throws in the sheets and towels with mine.

We don’t have to iron much right now, but when we need it, I do it.

Cool Don’t iron anything, I just don’t see any reason why I should. My great aunt used to iron the bedsheets, socks, underwear, dishcloths….

My husband still likes to tease me as I did not even own an ironing board or an iron when we met (or moved in together). He was rather incredulous that I did not even have either. I had left it with my ex as I never touched the damn things anyway!

My husband is a very good ironer, ha ha. Many years in the military will do that, usually. I spent some time in, but broke out of the ironing habit as soon as I left.

He irons more than I do (a couple times a week for his work shirts), but neither of us irons the others stuff either (though we don’t separate our laundry or anything, we each do that as it needs doing). I just stick my stuff in the dryer on wrinkle release and make sure to hang it up right away once dry (and if I forget it goes in dryer again!). I drag the iron & ironing board (the ones he brought into our relationship!) out maybe 2-3x times a year if one of my suits needs a quick press in between dry cleanings.
