I don't drink quite that much, although I should. Usually in a day I will have 3 bottles of Nestle Pure Life. Each bottle is 1 PT & .9 fl oz, and 3 bottles equals 50.7 oz total. So I guess I'm still falling short by 13.3 oz, but it feels like I drink a ton of water.

I guess I need to add ONE more bottle to my day, but I already have to pee constantly so I don't know what I'd do.

There's always adult diapers I guess LOL.

    Heh.

Noooo way. I'm horrible about drinking enough water! I will say that I don't drink cokes very much, so other than at breakfast, water is pretty much all I drink. But, I know I don't drink as much as I should - if I did, I'd be peeing every five minutes!

I was just thinking about this the other day. I'm real peitite and I don't drink the recommended amount either. Peeing is hampering my productivity. What do we do?

I drink from a nalgene which holds 32 oz, so I should be drinking 2 a day, but I probably only get through 1 1/2.  However I drink other drinks besides water too, so I think I probably get my 64 ozs at some point.

I'm pretty sure I drink *more* than the recommended amount. I have big glasses of water with every meal, carry a water bottle with me wherever I go, and drink more water in the evening as well. Funny, peeing isn't a problem for me, haha!

I'm the opposite - I have a 1000ml water bottle that I go through several times during a day.  An average day is 1 gallon of water, a thirsty day is 2.  I wouldn't say I pee every five minutes... but there's definitely a well-worn path between my desk and the bathroom.

i go no where without my water bottle! but for a long time i *really* hated drinking water. it would make me all burpy and everything. but then last year I got a water bottle with a straw attached, and life has been good, I drink a lot now!

I used to drink way more than the recommendation--probably about a gallon like Entangled.  I actually had my doctor yell at me and tell me I need to drink less water!  I pee all the time, and I don't think cutting back on the water really made a difference...

@ErinMarquerite: I've been told to cut down, too.  First I was given a half dozen diabetes tests, because I was always hungry and thirsty.  It took that many until he actually believed I didn't have it.  The 1 gallon/day IS my cut down amount.  I think it's a psychologically driven thirst at this point because there's no medical reason I should be drinking that much.

I only drink water (occassionally a cup of tea) but I doubt that I come close to the recommended amount. I just don't drink a lot! A bottle can usually last me around a whole day unless I'm really thirsty.

@ Entangled & Erin - Whoa! A gallon a day? No way! I'd NEVER leave the bathroom hahaha...

Do you all think that drinking water stretches your stomach out? Like, so you're hungrier? I've heard that drinking water can stave off hunger, but my body doesn't buy into that crap LOL. It's like "THAT is NOT food. I NEED FOOD!" So then, I must eat :)

I killed 1.5L earlier today, and apparently it's not a common thing?

When it's summer, I definitely try to go for a gallon a day, but during the winter I tend to slack off.

    I like at least 2L a day.

Ha, I was the one person who voted "I hate water!" I know I should drink more, but I need flavor! I drink more tea (iced and hot) than I do plain water.

It might stretch my stomach... haha okqueenbee, you're right, it totally doesn't fool me into thinking I'm full, though.  But I've been way hungrier and eaten way more than the average person my size since I started on solid food so I'm not sure the water has anything to do with it.  The one thing I have found (in total contrast to all the dieting tips) is that when I'm thirsty it often hides my hunger, so drinking water will make me realize that I was both.

NO WAY JOSE - - - I hate water!  I run a lot too and its actually not healthy at all that I don't like water. I drink a ton of iced tea and that shouldn't be a valid excuse but its the only one I've got. When I feel as though I am getting too many headaches I'll drink more water....Sewing has a great idea, maybe I need a water bottle with a straw, I wonder if I'll drink more then. I do drink all my drinks with straws.....hhhmmmmm

I have heard that you should drink half your body weight in ounces.  So if you weigh 120lb. drink 60oz./day.

They actually revised the guidelines.  They now admit you only need to drink enough fluids to replenish what you lose.  So if you work out and sweat a lot you haved to drink a lot more water than a sedentary person.  Also, all forms of hydration count now, not just water.  Soda, coffee, and juices (which they used to say dehydrate you) now count!

I don't come close to drinking the recommended amount. However, the two days before my e-pics, I did drink 64 ounces (both days). I think it made my skin glow, so I'm totally doing it again before my wedding! :)

I drink 1 - 2 gallons a day. I take a water bottle with me everywhere and yes, I pee A LOT. I got in to the habit of it about 2 years ago, and now if I don't take in enough I swear I'm so parched! I just feel yucky if I slack off.

I actually drink more... but I have lots of coffee, too, so I think it's my body evening out the dehydration?

I don't drink pop, rarely drink juice, and besides a wine or beer with dinner, don't drink anything but coffee and water on a regular basis.

I used to NEVER drink water. Like.. I lived on coffee, soda, and iced tea. I drank water maybe monthly. Then I started only buying water for my house (I still drink 1 cup of coffee in the morning and I will drink soda if I go out, but i won't buy it for my house) and I did a little better but I was still not drinking anywhere close to enough because I just don't get thirsty very often.

Then I got a UTI and I got it in my head that I HAVE to drink 8 cups of water or I'll get another one (which I know is kind of stupid because I went like 20+ years not doing that and never got one)... but whatever, it flipped a switch for me and now I'm great about it. I am much better about drinking water at night though for some reason so I usually have 1 tall glass of water with lunch (= 2 cups), 2 tall glasses with dinner (= 4 cups) and 1 tall glass before bed (= 2 cups). Which means I get up to pee every single night and I feel like an old person. But whatever. I'm hydrated :)

I definitely get 64oz but not strictly plain water. Water is found in many things. Also there was actually a recent development published (don't recall where exactly but I do remember reading it) that said that 64oz is way too much for most people, unless they are under doctor's orders to consume that amount.

PLEASE read this article about why, for most people, 64oz of water per day is pure overkill. It is not validated by scientific fact and is not a recommendation made the medical community. And in fact, drinking too much water CAN hurt you by diluting your total body sodium levels. 64oz generally isn't going to hurt anyone, but going over that is not something to aspire to.

The truth is, if you're not thirsty--you're getting enough water.

I get at least that much! I drink about 3 nalgenes during the work day (7am - 3:30pmish) then a nalgene at yoga and 1.5 - 2 more once I am home......how much would that be? 6 x 32? 192? that makes it sound like a lot but I'm just thirsty!

I def don't drink 64 oz of water but i've been trying to up my intake lately.

I had a problem with kidney stones in the past and the urologist always told me to drink plenty of water because i was dehydrated on my medication, causing the kidney stones. ANYWAYS... I was told you're suppose to take your weight and divide it by 2, and that's how many ounces of water per day you should drink.

I love water. Although I try to always use my Nalgene, I often end up grabbing a 1L bottle of SmartWater at school. My geology professor's image always pops in my head as a reach for that bottle. I hate that I do it, but I am really sensitive to weird tastes in water (metallic ones especially) and SmartWater and my home tap water are just what I like to drink.

I also have started drinking sparkling water to help me kick my soda habit. I drink the LaCroix Lemon in cans, or San Pellegrino. Mmmm..

Ugh, I used to love Crystal Light. But then I found out that the whole reason I was getting chronic migraines for the past five years was due to aspertame! So no more Crystal Light for me. Sad.

    I drink a min of 2L a day (~67oz).

The more water you drink the more in tune you get with your thirst. A lot of people don't understand the sensation of thirst and actually think it is hunger and so they eat instead of drinking.

I always have a 1L nalgene bottle with me and it allows me to have a drink whenever I am thirsty and I ONLY drink water, milk and tea.

Remember that the water you get in your foods, and other beverages count towards your water intake!

I didn't used to until I put 2 1L nalgene bottles on my desk.  If I fill them up in the morning I easily drink them during the work day.

@FutureMrsMartin - do you find that you get more in tune with your thirst?  I've found that drinking more water tripped up my thirst mechanism.  It's on constant overdrive now.  I ruled out anything medical being wrong a couple years ago, so I'm not really worried, but it's annoying to be thirsty all the time.

water lover..I drink probably 2 liters a day. I just carry a smart water everywhere and eventually I'll go through two. If I don't drink much water I feel really sluggish and tired. I have pretty good skin and can maintain my weight for the most part and I think its because of the water. As soon as I stop my face gets all dry and ugly looking and I typically gain weight.
