I love them :) IMO, they taste the best out of all of the healthy micro dinners.

I'm on lunch break and eating a roasted vegetable pizza right now. Thank goodness for healthy alternatives to our favorite foods. Otherwise I'd go nuts!

What's your favorite lean cuisine meal?

My favorite Lean Cuisine is the Vegetable Eggroll - YUM.

I also like the Smart ones meals too - most of their pasta dishes are great!

I love them! I would completely fail at my pre-wedding diet without Lean Cuisine, Dannon Yogurts, and fruit!

maybe I should try these. I spend way too much money in the hospital cafeteria!  I'm usually wary of frozen meals, though, due to the sodium content.    Anyone know what that's like in these?

@ JeniRae - the pizza I just had only had 280 mg of sodium - That is way low!

I love these, I agree these are the only frozen I have been able to like.  Today I had the chicken chow mein.  Plus, it's so easy to pack lunch!  And I've gotta say that I think it's helped me keep some weight off and from eating out at lunch (don't have much time so my options aren't very healthy).

i LOVE them!! and agree with the other bees that the smartones are fabulous too! :)

FI and I picked them up for lunches a few months back, and now we clip coupons and watch out for sales ALL the time, bcuz it's healthy AND saves a TON of money from when we used to eat out for lunch during work every day! :D

my favorites: sesame chicken, chicken caesar pasta, and lasgna!! :D

@ verosara - yes, I agree. They definately do help to keep lbs off PLUS it's a lot cheaper than eating out for lunch all the time.

I've saved extra money & I've been feeling better about myself. I really think it's true when they say "you are what you eat". If I east fast food several meals in a row, I feel disgusting and really down. When I eat light meals, I feel much healthier and proud of myself for using self control.

    (here is a rant :p)

I usually don't.  I used to, because crazy mom-drama and blah blah blah.  As a matter of fact, if I wasn't eating cereal (or some odd pastry at school), I was probably eating a stupid lean cuisine/healthy choice/smart ones microwave meal, and being super hungry.

And occasionally I'd buy a HC ice cream (because god forbid I buy a regular one), and I'd never get to eat it.  Maybe I'd have a scoop.  If I was lucky.

I'd say the worst effect of years of microwave-food is that once I was at college and could eat without craziness, I put on quite a bit of weight.

Now I more or less refuse to buy anything that is microwaveable and supposed to be a full meal.  Veggies and sides and desserts, sure; meals, no.

*Now that I'm done ranting:  I liked the healthy choice french bread pepperoni pizzas, burnt, sometimes covered in garlic powder.  Lean Cuisine makes good pizzas as well, but I don't like the ones with non-tomato sauce.  I used to like the Fiesta Chicken by Smart ones. HC's five-spice beef steamer is actually pretty tasty, I buy it once every few months, to keep in the freezer as "oh noes I am hawngray what do I eat".

I eat these and SmartOnes a lot.

So the fish is good? I once asked a woman in Target what she recommended. Fast forward to the next day, its lunch and I am cursing the woman for recommending sweet and sour chicken.

I like Smart Ones. I haven't gotten into Lean Cuisine because the one time I got one - chicken marsala I THINK it was - the piece of chicken in the package was like a joke. I laughed when I opened the box. Also, it just wasn't very good on top of being the size of my thumb. I'd be willing to try some of the pizza ones.

I generally stay with the pasta ones and the pizza ones, which I realize being total carbs is not the best thing ever. But there's no sketchy meat issues.

The butternut squash ravioli is pretty good.

I eat these all the time for lunch. I had a few appointments with a nurtitionist last spring and she said they were fine, but to add a salad to my lunch when I eat them. She was right, doing this totally fills me up. When I bring one of these meals for lunch I bring a simple salad from home or frozen veggies to heat up.

I like the lean cuisine, smart ones, healthy choice steamers and kashi meals! I might sound totally unhealthy, but i eat these at lunch at work and I know that they are healthier than 90% of things I would find in the cafeteria.

Also, I have found that target has the best prices on these frozen meals.

    @ missjyc - it's official then, I'm losing it ;)

@ HoneyBear - I wonder why they aren't good for you....? Did she tell you why?

It seems like the only food that is "good" for you nowdays if FRESH this and FRESH that, which is really hard to eat/cook when you work full time and have like 2 seconds to pack lunch :(

@ jaylii9 - That's what I think too! I just say to myself "ok, these might not be 100% nutritionally sound, but what's best? This or McDonalds?" lol.

    Lean Cuisine always wins :P

I used to eat LC meals, but I actually switched over to Smart Ones because they're cheaper and taste better to me. For example, the LC mac & cheese is really runny, whereas the Smart Ones is really thick and creamy. Yum!

One beef (ha! you'll see why I'm laughing in a minute) I have with all forzen diet meals is that most of them, no matter the brand, offer very few veggie options. I'm actually not a vegetarian, just a really picky meat eater (seafood for the most part) and I've just never liked the meat in these meals. But finding one that DOESN'T contain meat? That's hard. I think I have just a few options.

@okqueenbee/honeybear, I would categorize them as "not good for you" solely because of the amount of processing.  You've got to keep them freezer-stable and reduce the calories/fats/sugars/etcs somehow.

I don't mean to say that in a "ZOMG go eat everythign fresh and raw and organic!" sort of way (I'm not a fresh/raw/organic sort of person), but I definitely felt much better after I'd stopped eating them.  They didn't help me in terms of weight loss or cholesterol or any of those other things.  Even in college, when my diet was in the gutter, I still felt better than when I lived on micro-meals.  My brother says the same, but some of the stuff he eats now is scary.

Then there's that ??? (i'm not sure if it's a study or rumor) that says nuking food zaps the nutrients.

I'm not at all attempting to knock/convert/warn/whateveryoucallit anyone off of their meals.  I've just been left with a deep-seated dislike for them (and most anything labeled low/lite/reduced fat/cal/etc), as you can probably see from my rant...

@ surkim - Thanks for sharing! I don't like overly processed stuff either, but it's so hard to avoid! Almost everything that can easily be eaten/warmed up for an office lunch is packed with preservatives. I have recently started reading labels on food, and I realize that the more stuff that's in the ingredients list, means that much more processing. I don't like it at all... but I still feel much better eating those as opposed to McD's, etc.

They really do help my weight too :)

Mmmm, you know what other ones are good?  The Healthy Choice "Complete Meals."  We always have a couple in the freezer for really busy days.  Not only do they taste good, they also come with dessert!

I used to eat them occasionally a few years ago, but now I stick to the natural/organic frozen entrees if I need a quick lunch. I like the Amy's brand and Cedarlane brand so much better than Lean Cuisine. They are a little more expensive, but it's worth it to me to be able to identify all of the ingredients! I can usually find them on sale, too. Plus, they actually taste like real food.

I don't know if it's Lean Cuisine, but I like the panini sandwiches.  Yum, and the crunch makes me feel like I'm eating fried food!

My favorite is the chicken chow mein.  It has rice in it, so I feel like it is more filling than the other ones.  I also love the sandwich ones.  I think Weight Watchers recomends eating them because of the size.  They are supposed to make you used to eating smaller portions.

Guys, I don't think the Lean Cuisines are necessarily healthy. Maybe they aren't as bad for you as other options, but being "not bad for you" and being "healthy" are two different things. To my understanding, they are marketed as a form of portion control only.
