Do you "enjoy" or get "annoyed" by these type of parties….

I really enjoy going to the ones where its stuff I use like Tupperware and Scentsy. I hate the jewelry parties as I always find its overprice and cheaply made.

I only get annoyed because of the part where guests of party sign up to host their own… and then everyone wants you to come to their party which is the same exact one that 3 of your friends are hosting. There was a point in time last year where multiple people were inviting me to those “slumber parties” for several months straight!

@SamanthaLovesJames:  I have never ever been to a party of this sort! I wonder if I would enjoy it. Looking forward to reading responses! So curious now… Are you expected to buy something? Is there wine involved? Food? Music? Do people make a lot of money? Are these really good friends or just acquaintances wanting to do some shopping? So many questions! LOL

I forgot about these parties and didn’t know they still happen. My mom and aunt used to have them all of the time when I was growing up. I think the last one I attended was an Avon party in 10th grade with my best friend (her mom was an Avon lady).

Most of them frustrate me because I feel pressured to buy stuff I don’t want.

I’ve never been to a Scentsy party, but I do buy their products, so I’d like going to one.

I have friends who sell Herbalife, Mary Kay, Party Light, and Temptations so I have been to my fair share of these parties, luckily I don’t feel as guilty telling my friends no as oppsed to some random person trying to sell me the same stuff so I don’t mind going. Plus there’s always plenty of food and booze!

I’d rather just have a wine night with friends. There’s always so much talk and pressure to buy that by the time the rep leaves everyone else is ready to leave too so you don’t really get to hang out much.

@SamanthaLovesJames:  I went on a group cruise once that was hosted by a drag queen. She hosted a tuperwear party during one of our at-sea days and it was hilarious. That is the only one that I really liked.

When people have partylite or marykay parties I’ll usually decline but ask to place an order- just because I know their products and know what i like from them. But I don’t want to do a whole night of some over-zealous lady hard-selling me.

@SamanthaLovesJames:  I hate them all. Using friends to further your business is not cool. I avoid nearly them all, but sometimes I will attend to help out a close friend who has caved in and said “yes” to hosting one.

Can you imagine a group of guys having a power tool party?

Really don’t like the jewelry parties – I try not to go because otherwise I feel pressured into buying something I will never wear!

@paula1248:  Haha! Omgosh there are actually powertool parties, but for women. I think the brand is Tomboy Tools.
