@kelly105:I have had dreams like that, and I haven't spoken to or seen mine in 6 years either. They are very strange dreams! I always feel weird when I wake up. Then I wonder if he has ever had those dreams about me. Maybe it's happening on some parallel universe!
ETA--I do not wish I was with my ex. I am very happy with my husband and have no regrets about being with him.
I don't have dreams like those specifically but occassionally my ex will make a random apperance in my dreams. I don't think there's anything wrong with it. You can't control what you dream about.
ETA: I always feel guilty when I wake up after dreaming about my ex. :-(
OMG...I have definatly dreamed about my ex quite a few times. We dated for 4 years,he was my first love. things eneded badly we have talked in 5 years. Even after being with my SO for 4 years and could not be happier. I sometimes still have a random dream about me ex..
the few dreams I remember.. we got back together multiple times in multiple dream...I usally wake up thinking thanks GOD that was a dream. The most recent one I had he was follwing me around the grocery store beging for me back...and I told him straight that it was never happening.
I always would question if my dreams were trying to relay a message that i still loved him and wanted to be with him.... but I dont! far from it! I was always so much happier with my current SO. I think the dream/nightmares come to remind me of how good I have it now....and not to take advantage of the great love I have now because I always wake up after those dreams to be happy of my reality.

occasionally, they however are mostly dreams where he applogizes to me and we talk.
I had one where we were getting married, but then FI came up to me and said, he tricked you, your supposed to be with me today, and then Ex turns into a giant bird.
That's so funny that you posted this, I actually just started a similar thread last night. I recently dreamed about my first love as well, and he has not crossed my mind in AGES!! It was SO weird that I would dream about him now!
I had an ex-SEX dream once. When I woke up I felt gross and weirded out and a little guilty. BUT, I was also RELIEVED that it was just a dream!!
Sometimes, but the funny thing is in the dream we're always doing some random stupid thing. Like about a year ago I had a dream that my ex and I were shopping for gardening supplies! The dreams never actually mean anything, I think it's normal to have people who were once a big part of your life pop into your subconscious now and then.
i actually had a dream about my ex the other night - my first love too - there was another serious relationship between him and my husband and i havent talked to him in a long long time. Random!
My exes pop up in my dreams more than I would like. We aren't neccesarily together (although we have been in some) but three of them seem to make appearances off and on.

Yep. I think it's normal. I usually have two types of dreams:
1) I dream about an ex (from a pretty good relationship). In my dream, I'm usually getting married to him and like you, OP, I don't even remember FI. I have absolutely no desire to be with this ex in real life, so it's pretty bizarre. I think a lot of the time the ex is more of a representation of my actual FI, if that makes any sense.
2) When I'm stressed or feeling guilty, I dream about an ex from a relationship that wasn't so good. Oddly enough, I often dream about his gf (whom I've never met) in these dreams, too. I think it's usually just a result of my stress.
Every now and then an ex will pop into a dream, but in some random way (like he comes by with the neighbor's daughter selling girl scout cookies or something... crazy!).
I do sometimes have dreams about guys I've never dated or even considered dating (just people I know), and I'm making out with them or something. I feel SO weird when I wake up (and when I see that person again in real life...haha)!
I sometimes have nightmares about my ex. They're less frequent now, but I had a really vivid one a few months ago that the ex had found out where I live and was trying to break into the apartment to hurt me, and for some reason DH couldn't get home in time to help. I woke up completely freaked out. My ex was very abusive and I was with him for almost two years, so I guess it's not surprising that there's some lingering trauma...but on the other hand, whenever I have one of these dreams I find myself going, "REALLY? It's been four years since I left him, wtf."
Before the wedding I dreamt about my ex (first love from 15 years ago!) like twice a month. The dreams were always similar that I was leaving my FI (now DH) for ex. The dreams were always so vivid. I think deep down I will always have a spot for him in my heart- but life with him wasn't meant to be. DH makes me happy (most of the time!) :)
I do sometimes but it's never anything romantic or sexual. It's just about random stuff. I dream about pretty much everyone from my past and present life. Usually much to my dismay.
I had a dream about my ex last night, but not about us being together. In my dream my ex called me drunk, and was asking me all kinds of questions about my fiancé. It was really weird and I felt so strange when I woke up. It's been over a year since I last talked to him.
A couple of times, but he's usually "the enemy" in the dream.
In one dream I had sex with my ex but felt very guilty afterwards because I suddenly remembered my fiance. That dream was strange though because characters switched mid dream. :P
I never dream about my first boyfriend, which I'm thankful for.
@kelly105: yes I've had dreams with my ex and when I wake up I'm not happy! haha in my dream he's trying to get me to cheat on my FI!! it's been awhile since I've had a dream with him tho.. actually from what I remember last time he was in my dreams was before I was even engaged,so I guess he was trying to get me to cheat on my FI who was still my BF at the time
I actually just had a dream about my ex last night. I dreamt that SO and I were on our way to our wedding and we ran into ex's mom. She invited us to get married in her sun room instead, and for some reason this was a really good idea, so we went back to her house. Once there, ex confronted me and berated me for getting married and not waiting for him to come back to me (mind you, he dumped me!). I went and found my SO and said this was a bad idea and we needed to go back to our real wedding. So weird!
Yes, I must say that I don't want to be with my ex in any sense. But when I wake up it is a strange feeling. I always feel guilty for having the dream.
I wonder why we still dream about them? Maybe it has something to do with closing the "dating" chapter in our lives. I don't remember dreaming about him before I got serious with FI.
I do wonder if he has the same type of dreams about me.
OMGOSH! Thank god someone else posted that! It happend to me 2x after I got engaged to the love of my life. I dont know why and in the dreams, he ws just around in the dream, we werent dating, but he apologized in one which is a dream haha.
I think we all sort of think of the past subconsciously and think of things we thought we would have had. But bees!! do not regret anything! We said yes to our fiance's for a reason, they are THE ONES or you shouldnt have said yes! Not being with my ex was the best thing that could have ever happend to me.
This has happened to me a couple times now in the past two weeks. I don't understand why I suddenly started dreaming about him when we haven't seen each other in over a year and a half. I love my FI and am excited to be marrying him, so it is a bit disturbing when I dream about my ex.
I do, usually when really stressed. I am always unhappy (just like I was in real life!) and usually I am getting with someone else, such as FI. Sometimes people I don't know. Sometimes I get scared he is going to hurt me and it turns into a nightmare. Shudder.
Then I wake up and cuddle Mister extra and am so thankful I have him now.

Every once in a while I will have a dream about my first love. I have not seen him in 6 years, and it's been about 5 years since I last spoke to him. But every so often I will have a dream that we are still together and we are about to get married. In my dreams I completely forget about my Fiance as if he never existed.
Does anyone else have dreams like that?
