I too question at times, but I think it’s really hard to tell in photos. It’d be nice to have a reference object in the photo like a dime.

@cls9q:  I never think people are because it’s SUCH  a weird thing to lie about…. but now that you say it, sometimes yes by the photo it looks very much NOT like what htey are saying… but it’s also that issue where depending on light, angle, and distance from camera, things can look WAYYYYYYY different!

I know people lie about weight but finger size? come on!

LOL! I’ve never thought about it before, not sure why you would lie about it. I think my fingers look bigger than they are.

I felt bad the other day because a girl I worked with told me and another girl we work with that her ring was “a carat.”  Her stone is MUCH smaller than mine, and I know my center stone is 3/4 of a carat…and said so.  She kind of made a face and then was like, “Oh I mean all the stones together!”  =(  I wonder if she was lying, or her fiance lied to her?  Because mine has more stones on the sides than hers…=(  I felt bad.

My ring size is just under 2.5. It’s embarrassingly small but I wouldn’t lie about it. Even though I have a complex about it (lots of people tell me my fingers are skeletal, scary etc).

I am not sure. The guy at the jewelry store said “I bet your finger is the average 6.75” when in fact I have a size 5 finger. Thank god I made him use the sizer thingy on my hand. The 6.75 would have fallen off! But really, it’s not like my skinny finger has any bearing on how thin or thick I am in the middle…so why lie?

I don’t really see the point? I know my fingers look enormous in photos. There are also other factors that influence the perceived size, e.g. fingers look a lot slimmer with long fingernails.

But I don’t know, you may be right, people lie about really stupid things sometimes!

@Andthepupmakes3:  +1…yup

I would not understand lieing about a 3.5 (lol that’s my finger size!) but Maybe if they are a like size 12 and say it’s a 5….but who really cares? I have a 3.5 and WISH I had like a size 5…more things would fit!

This happened to me as well! They said I was probably “stock size” which was 6.5, I told them another jeweler had sized me as 5.5, they said NO WAY! Then got out the ring sizer and I am a 5.0! So even people who deal with this all the time can find the real life look of your finger deceiving I guess..

My ring is a size 5.0 now and it fits perfectly.

This seems like something really odd to lie about, but people lie about everything on the internet, so it’s definitely possible.

Lol, people think I am lying when am tell them I’m a 3.5. A guy at the jewelry store closely examined my hand and guessed I was a 5. I honestly could go a little smaller than 3.5, but a 3.25 is a little too tight.
