I think it’s just a surreal moment.  I don’t feel like it’s a costume, but I guess I can’t believe I’m wearing a wedding dress of all things.

Yah it’s kind of weird. Wedding dresses don’t feel like I expected the to feel somehow.

I feel that way. This actually caused a little bit of minor conflict between me and my family, as I really wanted to wear a dark colored gown because I felt it was more “me” than a classic wedding dress. I’m still going to wear the dark gown I wanted, but for the reception. I don’t feel 100% right in my wedding gown, even though I love it and think it’s beautiful. I never wear white/ivory/light colors in general, so that alone feels weird for me.

I said that once at an appointment and the sales lady looked at me like I was nuts.. I was like um these dresses are big and bulky like costumes!

I didn’t feel that way either time I got married. When I felt that way while trying on dresses, I took that as a sign that the dress was not for me.

Yes!!! My dress was not particularly big, it was an a-line, but I felt like I was dressing up as a bride rather than actually feeling like a bride, if that makes sense. The fabric on all of the dresses I tried seemed costumey to me. I’ve had plenty of $50-$100 dresses that felt much “nicer than” my $1200 wedding gown…maybe you need to have a higher budget to get non costumey fabric?

Nope, it felt perfectly me (unlike jeans and lots of “normal” clothes which feel wrong).

Haha, at my last fitting they caught me in the fitting room swishing the skirt back and forth like a little girl playing dressup!!
