Do you give Christmas gifts to your daycare teachers? I hadn’t even thought of it until I read a thread about giving gifts to school teachers, and then I wondered if I should give gifts to our daycare teachers. DS has only been in daycare 1.5 weeks so far, so we don’t know his teachers all that well. If we need to give a gift, I was thinking something small like a $5 gift card to Starbucks.

Are your kids too young to make them something? Perhaps a macaroni painting will look good on their wall at daycare 😉
but in all seriousness, I would reccommend getting them something small. Maybe a $15 giftcard, though- $5 at starbucks will get you a cup of coffee. And only if you’re not getting a venti or trenta!

Seriously, it depends. How many daycare teachers does he have? The daycare I worked at had at least 8 staff – are you willing to spend $40 on a gift? We often had parents drop off chocolate or cappicino mix or items like that – it’s a little cheaper. Trust me, good coffee and homemade cookies go a long way.

I would be wary of giving Christmas gifts if you have only been there 1.5 weeks. Are you sure they celebrate Christmas? Just ask as someone who is Jewish and celebrates a different holiday…

He’s 3 months old
I think there are 3 people that work in the infant room.
It’s a national daycare chain, not an in-home or locally owned daycare.

I think a card is good enough

I am a teacher and I have worked in daycares and let me tell you…it is really nice to be acknowledged every now and then by parents. We deal with a lot of rude parents so even small gestures are nice. I had parents give me simple gift cards of $5-10 to starbucks, target, etc. Or you can go to the store and get a bag of the nicer chocolate (Lindorfs/ or whatever)…those are like $3 a bag at walmart. It is just nice to know that our hard work is appreciated. 🙂

Last year, DD had only been there for a month (in-home) so I gave the owner/main teacher a reusable coffee tumbler and $20 for sbux. This year, I’m giving her $50 for Lululemon and a lulu headband.

Yes. I coupon and CVS has a LOT of beauty things that I can split up ( 10 nail polishes in a container or 11 shower gels) I put them in a cute goodie bag and add a tag. They appreciate someone thinking of them. (I teach GA Pre-K at my daughter’s daycare, so I know her teachers AND I know how nice it feels to be thought of by a parent. it doesn’t have to be anything big, but a simple chocolate bar will make a teacher happy. My favorite gift so far (and I’ve gotten $25 gift cards to places) was a container of homemade fudge, reindeer food, etc. OMG It was SOOO good!
