My sister and I were talking tonight and she called me out on saying "I know, right?" all the time.  I realize I say it a lot, but I think it's kind of funny.  I decided that it's my catch phrase.  If I were a character on a TV show, it would be the phrase I'd say all the time, like "wait for it..." (Barney on How I Met Your Mother).

Do you have something that you say all the time that could be considered your catch phrase?  Are your friends sick of hearing it?

I don't know if this would be considered my catch phrase, but I have SUCH a bad habit of saying "JK" out loud and in conversation. Even to like, professors or people on the phone. They either look at me like I'm nuts, or just start laughing really hard.

My dad thought I was using a swear word. lol.

I always say "I'm on it... like flies on poop."

It comes out more around family and friends but occasionally at work, but there it doesn't matter because I teach 5 year olds and they think I'm hilarious even if they don't quite get the joke.

Mine is a HIMYM thing... I do the high-pitched Barney... "What up!?" and then when I am super serious. "What. Up,"

LOL! These are funny. I wish that there was an audio option :)

I use "super" a lot.  I am "super busy", "super tired", "super stressed out". I feel like an action hero that think that they are super. No power. Just super.

Well I work with kids, so I say "poop on a stick" instead of cursing. Smile

I'm also a Nor Cal chick, so I say "hella" in every other sentence... unless I'm working with the kids!! Laughing

I say "whatev" a lot.  I also use "donkey" quite frequently as either a noun or adjective...as in "where are my donkey keys?"

I don't really have a catch phrase!  If I could pick any to have, though, I'd be all over Barney's phrases on HIMYM as well - "wait for it..."  "Suit Up!" & "legendary"!

    :)

When talking on the phone I have a habit of saying "did I tell you"(since I love to gossip), and my FI likes to mock me.

Hmm... I guess I always answer the phone (to people I know, of course) with a hearty, "HERRO!"

I also used to say "That's so RANDOM" to just about everything in college, and my girlfriend caught on to it and said it all the time too. She worked for Garry Marshall, and he was making the movie Raising Helen (I think??? I forget what movie he was making) at the time, so there is this scene in it where there is a club that they go to a club, and it's called "Club Random". That's 'cause of us! Hahaha :)

I always say "Yea, no".  So if you ask me a yes or no question, you get both answers :)

"have you seen my keys?" "yea, no I haven't"

"did you get gas in the car while you were doing errands?" "yea, no gas"

"did you close the balcony door?" "yea, no I didn't"

I think its a family thing because I've caught my mom doing it too.

If I agree with something, I always say, "no doubt!" - Idk where this came from but I said it twice tonight and I noticed it both times. I picked it up years ago and I can't seem to shake it!

I also quote Will Ferrell from Oldskool and say "That's crazy man" as deep as my voice will go when something is weird. Idk what made me start saying that either...

I always say bananas. Things are always bananas. I'm always going bananas. I can't stop saying it and I have no idea where it came from. Whenever I say it around my fiance, he starts singing Gwen Stefani, "B-A-N-A-N-A-S". That drives me bananas too.

Hahaha these are funny! I don't know if I have one, but my FI definitely does. He says "Awesome" all. the. time. We recently went on vacation with my mom and a bunch of family friends. He said something was "awesome" right when we got there and my mom's friend goes "First 'awesome' of the trip!"

I'll have to think of what mine is...

I have two: "no worries" and "truth"

No worries is my response to anyone apologizing (unless I'm upset by it, ha!) but I say it ALL the time.

I say "truth" whenever I agree with someone.  As in

Friend: "If I never ate ice cream again, I would die."

    Me: "TRUTH"

I'm definitely guilty of "I know, right?" and also when starting a sentence: "I'm not gonna lie..."

As in, "I'm not gonna lie, I've been thinking about free cupcake day since I woke up this morning." :)

I have several.  "Smokes!" is one, as in Holy Smokes.

"How you gonna go and be like that?"  is another one.

"Ya' think?" is one I say a lot too.

Haha you guys are so funny!

This isn't exactly the same, but EVERY time someone says " oh my god" I ALWAYS have to say "Becky, look at her..." and normally I catch myself before I say the rest if I'm in front of people I don't know that well Embarassed

What's really funny is that FI's 18 year old sister heard me say it, and she was like, why do you always say that? and I was like, i like big butts? and she had NO idea what I was talking about. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE.

It cracks me up the way our catch phrases always migrate to those around us...

I say "ya know?" quite a bit when I talk and now my mom does...  but my catch phrases seem to go in cycles.  "Not so much" was one for a while...  "If Creepybarguy asks you out, would you go?" "Mmmmm.  Not so much."

More recent ones...  "ya think?", "Riiiight, riiiiight"

:)  I think I'll always have one - it's just me, ya know??     Laughing

I'm known for saying "pretty much" or "that's right" and "for serious." I just love how my friends like to use them around me all of the time to poke a lil' fun.

    @ Tanya123 - it's "Eh" ;-)  As in "Lousy day, eh?"

I also say Eh A LOT, but I AM Canadian Laughing

And like a few others, I find my self saying "I know, right?" (and it drives me nuts)

    and "I'm not gonna lie..."

@ Pengy - hahaha "Herrrrrrroooo?" I love that you say that too!  I usually only say it to people I KNOW, but I have found my self catching myself at work "Herr..**COUGH COUGH** Hello?"

Mrs. Spring    May 10, 2009   California

My husband is desperate for me to break the "your face" habit.  It's the best comeback ever, though, and I have a hard time remembering not to say it.  :)

Mr. Spring:  Could you get me a glass of water.

Mrs. Spring:  Could your face get you a glass of water?

Mr. Spring:  Seriously, just go get the glass please.  I'm in the middle of something.

Mrs. Spring:  Your face is in the middle of something.

Mr. Spring:  Whatever, I'll go get it myself.

Mrs. Spring:  Your face will go get it itself.

omg @ Mrs Spring: me and my FI do that all the time!! Everything is always "your face!" with us, LOL! It gets worse at the conversation goes...

FI: Do you want a sandwich?
Me: Your face wants a sandwich!!
FI: YOUR FACE wants a sandwich!!
Me: Your whole body wants a sandwich!!
FI: Your mom wants a sandwich!!
Me: Your whole family wants a sandwich!!

After like 5 minutes we forget what we were talking about.

Heh heh heh, this one's gotten me into a bit of trouble:  My favorite phrase is "Are you f***ing kidding me right now??"

Yeah, I pretty much use it all the time. ie: "Look at all that traffic, are you f***ing kidding me right now?" or "Are you f***ing kidding me right now with that price?  I'm not paying that"  etc...

Since us Bostonians swear all the time, it's not a huge issue, but I did ask my boss once if she was f***ing kidding me about a client's request.  She was not particularly amused...  (actually she was amused, but asked me not to say that to the client!)

Mine include "I mean...", "So, anyway", "he/she was all like" (oh my gosh I hate myself), "Whatevs". I do say BRB in regular conversation, mostly with my husband, who rolls his eyes. My brother and I also have an elaborate system of insults (we maintain to my mom they are actually well disguised terms of endearment) based off of the words butt, monkey, face, and fuzz. My brothers and I also do "your mom" jokes with each other all the time... the absurdity makes it funnier. :) Fuzzmonkeys is also one of my pseudo-curse words of choice.

My group of friends has collective catchphrases too: "What the poop?!", "Oh James!", "Sweet action Jackson!" and a bunch of other really dorky stuff.

Those catch phrases are hilarious!!  I use "DOOT" a lot, its a made up word from college days.  Anytime I say something funny I say "doot thats dumb!"  or I'll say "you know what I mean" too much (this one gets on Fis nerves...he told me to change it up like say, "do you understand"  or "get it?"  I just can't help saying it...you know what i mean!! HAHA

    haha, i love these!

i have a few random ones, like "herrow" i usually say to one particular friend but it's spread to how i answer the phone in general. and "no worries" is another. my favorites though are "holy cheese and crackers!" and "for the love of bob the builder!" not quite sure where i picked those up but there you go.

oh, and "like you know, whatever" which is usually accompanied with a complimentary eye roll. lol. oh! and one more [i swear]: i like to jump into conversations with, "see what had happened was, she was like, and he said, what?! and i was like, oh no she didn't" it changes all the time and sometimes ends with "and i was all, like you know, whatever." i'm sure i'm missing some too.
