I think I'm going to get a cheap titanium ring to wear to work (I'm in nursing school and don't currently wear my e-ring to clinicals in the hospital).  FI thinks it's selfish of me to want another band when I already have two, but I like to have something on that finger!

Do any of you have an "extra" ring to wear when you travel, or go to work?

I think I'm going to get one once we start traveling again because I won't swim with a diamond band.

I'm glad you posted this!  I am thinking about gettng a cheap sterling silver band to wear on our honeymoon when we're at the pool/beach.  I'm terrified to wear my diamond somewhere it could easily get lost, but I really want to have something on my ring finger.  But I was wondering if it was weird to have a "fake" wedding band.  I'm glad I'm not the only one who's thinking of doing this!

Not selfish.  You can get a titanium band for like $50.  If you were wanting a third ring w/ diamonds, that might be one thing.

I got a cheap sterling silver band with channel set cubic zirconias to wear on my trip to China.  With the high crime rate in some of the places we visited, I was thinking I should have gotten a plain band instead.

I'm looking for a fake e-ring to stand in when I'm watiressing.  So far all the cheapos at target and claires are way too big....so I think I'm gonna order "Bella's engagement ring" from amazon.  Yes from Twilight....don't judge.  lol

Selfish? Seriously?! You can get a titanium band for literally less than $10. Heck, this one's less than $3! Titanium is extremely cheap right now. Does he realize this? Besides that fact, does he just expect you to never again buy jewelry anymore just because you already have some from the wedding? Sheesh! Go get your titanium band, girl. I think it's a very good idea given the field you work in. i already have a stand-in, and i don't have a wedding band yet. :-P

We're getting my FI a stand-in ring because his is a bit loose. He'll just wear it on vacations when we're going to the beach. I just wear my band, but not my e-ring when we're traveling.

I think I'm going to do this. My FI wasn't to sure on the idea but I think it is very practical. I just plan to get a cheap silver or titanium band to wear when traveling abroad, swimming, etc.

I am going to do this for sure! I won't be traveling with my diamond anywhere. If people feel like stealing from me abroad then they can have my cheap cubic zirconia.

As long as it's not expensive, I don't see why he would mind overmuch.  I just ordered myself a $20 silver band to act as a stand in for when my ring goes in the week before the wedding to be soldered (being without my REAL ring the week before the wedding will be bad enough, to not have ANYTHING on my ring finger would kill me!).  I'm also planning on wearing it on our honeymoon and when traveling...  And this sounds totally stupid, but I'm also planning on swapping it out when I take my ring off before getting in the shower.  It always seems like I'm so tired when I haul myself out of bed that mid-shampoo, without FAIL, my heart skips a beat when I realize my ring isn't on my finger.  LOL.  Scary, I know, but I'm terrified of losing it.  I say go ahead and buy a less expensive stand-in band!

I had planned to get a plain white gold wedding band to wear while camping, swimming, doing yard work, etc., but after seeing @littlemissmango's post, I may just go with titanium.  Can't beat that price!

@littlemissmango, Thanks for those links!  I was looking on Etsy and finding many in the $50 range but that's even better.  I definitely don't need anything fancy and that will sure do the trick.

After talking to my FI about it and showing him the cheapo band I could get for less than a bag of Doritos, he is on board.  I think he's just overwhelmed at the cost of the wedding and felt it was unnecessary at first.

honestly i'll probably just "risk it" with my real ring. I might not take my e-ring to travel after i'm married... but i will just wear my wedding band (plat w/ pave diamonds). it will be insured and if something should happen well, we'll get it replaced. but i like the idea of wearing my wedding band every day for the rest of my life: rain, shine, or travel!

Yeah, I have a set that cost $12 at the Icing for when we travel. We leave our real ones in the safe at home. They are insured, but sentimentally, I'd rather not lose my real ones.

FI and I were just talking about this yesterday!  We went to the beach and I left my ering at home bc I was extremely worried I'd lose it on the beach!  When we got there I noticed a ton of girls had their erings on!  I want to get a cheap stand in one for days like these.  Here's the catch..I would really like to find something that looks similar to my real ering.  Where are good places to look for stand in rings..places with lots of options!

overstock has a few to choose from that i think are really great prices considering they are actually white gold and (simulated) white sapphire for just around $100!  I'm eyeing this solitare for my stand-in e-ring...

You're not selfish! You just need something for work. That is silly. I'm traveling overseas and am leaving my ering at home. I found a white sapphire ring set in sterling, and I just dropped 250 dollars to get it reset in gold. (I feel a little selfish, but I didn't want something that would tarnish.) Plus, it was a reward for myself for student teaching and graduating.

We just got my fiance a 30 dollar sterling silver wedding band for traveling. Definitely try Kohls.com or even Target. There are some very realistic engagement rings there.

Or emitations.com. Most of their rings are suuuper lavish and gorgeous, but they do have dainty solitaires and whatnot. The only thing is they don't carry half sizes. Also, try amazon.com or overstock.com
