@TheBOHObride:  I am having a DW and going on a cruise, and we are not having one. So far, its been a bit stressful, trying to help everyone get a place to stay, but not too bad. I would try to do without, but it depends on the situation.

We’re having a travel agent for our honeymoon. It’s cheaper, more inclusions, and the service is free. It helps that there’s always someone to call if there’s a problem too.

We only had a travel agent for our personal international flights. As we’re leaving Canada at different points in time but want to travel together after that it felt like the best way to deal with it. However, we’re dealing with everything else ourselves – domestic flights, car rentals and hotels.

As for our guests, they are on their own. 🙂

@TheBOHObride:  YES! I am having a weddingmoon (DW and honeymoon in the same spot). Our travel agent has been great! She answers all my million questions. Answers all my family and friends million questions. We are using her for our stay as well as our guests stay. She can price match on-line deals like expedia, priceline, etc. And, we are getting discounts as people book.  We can also get room upgrades or free semi-private dinner’s for our group.  I’m sure it can be done without a travel agent but WHY? They don’t cost anything and can really save you time and money.  I can’t imagine having to try and answer all the questions for people’s travel info.

PS. Our travel agent is from TravelStore

@TheBOHObride:  I used a travel agent that specialized in destination weddings while she was a great helpshe was also a pain in the a** because she was super disorganized!!!!! We are currently in a discrepency with her over stuff she was to get for us AND that we paid for but we did not get on our trip

We are just doing a smaller dw in Hawaii. We do not have a travel agent and negotiated a room block with the hotel and I signed up for an air fare deal.

We have one and used her for our honeymoon. I could do it myself but shes a family friend and I rather help her out and get her the bonuses than do it myself.  She is super sweet and we love using her because we’re close enough that that she’ll tell us the truth about a place or tell us secrets 🙂

We looked at using one, but they quoted us for way more than going through the resort. Plus we got credits to use, as well as “early booking” specials at the resort if we booked on their website.
