    I voted no… We have not hired a wedding planner, however our venue has a day-of coordinator included in our package.

    I said yes, but we’re just having a day of coordinator. Havent had my wedding yet, but I think it will be worth it

    @smarie13:  Nope! We had a venue coordinator who assisted with small things, but we planned everything on our own. I have done event planning for a living, so I was pretty comfortable taking it on by ourselves. It was a suprisingly laid back process and very manageable. We had an 85 guest wedding hosted at a school (it doesn’t look like one though), so we had to obtain rentals (tables, chairs, lighting), work with a caterer, did DIY centerpieces/florals and decor.

    We have an event and design planner and a day-of coordinator from the event planning company that is affiliated with our ceremony and reception venue. So far, both of them have been SO helpful. I can easily email them or set an appointment to meet with them whenever I have any questions and are always available to assist me. They recommended many vendors, and we actually hired a couple of them. They have been truly helpful with the whole wedding planning process.

    They pretty much handle all the catering, rentals, set up, design process, florals, and mostly everything else! We are not allowed to use other vendors for uplighting and weren’t allowed to hire another florist, but I wouldn’t want it any other way. They are the best at what they do, and can transform any place into such a beautiful wedding venue. I’m so glad they are here to help me with our wedding! I wouldn’t know what I’d do without them!

    I had thought that I couldn’t afford a planner, so had gone into the meeting with mine hoping for at the least a DOC. I came out of the meeting so pleased with pricing and offerings, that we hired them pretty much on the spot. I’ve got a good handle on what I want, but they are doing all the leg work, so instead of me spending hours narrowing down things, they give me a few suggestions and I look at those. 

    I watched my boss stress out about her wedding, and I knew that I didn’t want to do that, so I’m grateful for my planners. While I’m still the driving force, they take my suggestions and run with them. Couldn’t be happier.

    I voted no, my mom actually wanted to be our “planner” so I enlisted her. Together we have great ideas and have the best time plammimg and implementing our vision. Also, I have a day of planner to oversee everything on our wedding day.

    I hired a Wedding Planner, she is the best thing that happened to me. She helps me sort my ideas into logical and no can do, she keeps me balanced and stops me from going overboard on Pinterest.

    She knows what its really like to plan a wedding, she has great advice and she is happy to share the work load and she really does more than her designated job.

    Wedding Planners can be a major expense, but I found looking local and finding smaller businesses the best way to find a honest hard working Planner who is reliable and will exceed your expectations.

    Our package comes with a planner and DOC but we’re doing almost all of the planning ourselves.

    No, we were super low budget and I hate having to listen to other people when I know what I want. I’m incredibly stubborn.

    @smarie13:  we’re having a medium scale destination wedding– we thought having a planner with active “boots on the ground” was prudent.

    Our venue comes with its own coordinator, and my DJ told me that he takes it upon himself to make sure everything is running on time, so we didn’t feel the need for a coordinator outside of that. I was kind of surprised to learn how many of my engaged/married friends used a coordinator for everything. I just like having my hands in every detail I guess.

    I hired a DOC.  All the planning, set up (the week before), etc., is still on me.  But for that day, I want to just let go and enjoy.

    @Bearimbolo:  Same as you. Planning and decorating is included in most venues we’ve visited, and will be included at the location we’ve chosen. Although we can access the site on the morning to finish decorating, they’ll be in charge of most of the decor and setting before we arrive. I can leave a box with DIY centerpieces the day before, and they’ll take care of it.

    Yes. I made all the decisions and she executed them flawlessly. She was seriously the best investment we made in the planning process.
