@Laurenplusalex:  I have heard they were awesome but I don’t have one but from what I have seen they look like it could be what you need.

I have the Surface RT. I love it. The RT is a tablet, so you can’t do everything you can do on a full laptop. This has not been an issue for me like 98% of the time. I use it mainly for word processing, email, and calendar. They also sell the Pro, which is the same size, but it’s like a full laptop. It came with Windows 8 – I’ve always been a Windows user, and it took a while to acclimate – coming from Apple OS there will definitely be a learning curve! I would recommend getting a Dummies book or something similar.

Also, being a tablet, definitely spring for the protection plan. We purchase all of our electronics because they have the best plans. I dropped my tablet like 3 feet and the screen broke, like a month after I got it. They replaced it for free, and I paid the $18 difference (pro-rated) to extend the plan for 3 years on the new tablet.

Being a Microsoft product, it came with a full version of Office 2013 (which is not out yet). I love it and have not had any issues. When the full version is released to the public I will get a free upgrade.

@Laurenplusalex:  So sorry for the delay in replying! I’m not really sure, you should probably speak with a computer salesperson. In my experience, I haven’t been able to download certain apps or programs, like the leapster learning app to sync with my daughter’s leappad. It’s really not been an issue, I just use my laptop when things like that come up.
