Do you have extra out of town welcome bags or advice?

posted 6 months ago in Beehive

HI,

I'm working on my out of town welcome bags and I'm really trying to be somewhat green about them. We're getting lots of local goodies ($$) but I'm having a hard time finding nice recycled gift bags. So, I was thinking, if anyone has extra bags they were going to toss I could buy or use them ? Has anyone found a good recycled bag site? I may go with cheaptotes.com in the end, but thought I would try to get advice or your extra bags before doing that. I'm open to them being different actually since everyone is staying at different locations on Cape Cod for my wedding.

Thanks for your help!!

I wasn't sure on what size you wanted, but there's an Etsy seller who does small totes/bags for pretty cheap:

Even if they aren't organic, they're homemade which is still pretty cool.

If you live close to a Whole Foods, they have some cute bags made out of recycled plastic bottles for only $.99 apiece.

Hi, I have 25 extra bags.  Sadly, they're paper (brown kraft)...I bought them before I realized I could have gotten canvas totes for about the same price.  Not so eco-friendly in the fact that they're paper, but I probably would have tossed them in my recycling bin if I couldn't find someone to buy them post-wedding.  They're from Paper Mart, the brown kraft ones:

Ecobags has recycled PET and recycled cotton.

Another green idea is to get your guests a bag they're likely to use again.  I'm considering using Envirosax or Chico Bags - these totes fold up small for grocery shopping convenience.

I second the vote for reusable bags.  They can be somewhat expensive, so we ended up buying fabric and my super-crafty mom is sewing them herself.

In my area, the supermarkets like Giant and Safeway sell reusable grocery bags for only $.99. Sometimes they say the name of the grocery store on them, but I have also seen ones that don't.  Also, Ace hardware stores often sell these kinds of bags, or you can order them online.

This site offers some recycled/reusable bags: http://www.cscpromo.com/eco-friendly.aspx

They do have big minimum quantities, but they're customizable (and they offer eco-friendly ink!)

Nashville Wraps has a great set of eco-friendly packaging. You can buy in groups of 25 (or larger). They also have recylced tissue paper.
