I haven’t, but if a TTC friend of mine was drinking Pepsi I would probably think she wasn’t pregnant because of the caffeine, right? Maybe it was caffeine free? lol

My work was startinga weight loss contest. I originally signed up even though we were actively trying, I took a hpt over the weekend and had to back out on Monday when I went into work. Everyone guessed, even guys that I figured weren’t the type to notice or care about me being pregnant. I denied it for about 2 months then have in.

@Jilliebean1:  Agreed lol, that is just so weird!

I suppose I am an obsessive baby bump watcher. I have 2 close friends who are TTC and I have been for a year already so I’m worried that they will catch me at a weak moment when they announce and I will embarrassingly cry. So every time I see them I am sure to see if they are drinking lol. Both of them are big drinkers so it would be very obvious. (For the record, one began TTC earlier this month and the other will actually begin TTC next month).

I am guilty of doing this….SIL wasn’t drinking anything when we ate dinner at the IL’s house for 2 weeks in a row…she ALWAYS has a glass of wine there, so I was like OMG SHE’S PREGNANT! Turns out she thought she was maybe pregnant, but then figured out she wasn’t.  Everyone in my family noticed my sister was pregnant because the first thing she always does when she walks in the door is head to the fridge and grab a beer.  When she didn’t do this, my parents caught on the first time lol.

@Jilliebean1:  My Dr. has advised that a certain amount of caffeine is fine per day, when TTC and when pregnant.

i know a lot of people who don’t give up soda OR coffee and just cut down instead.  But it all depends on what your Dr. tells you.

@KateByDesign:  I know a small amount of caffeine is fine I just thought it was weird that BECAUSE she was drinking caffeine they thought she was pregnant, because it’s generally known that caffeine in high amounts is unsafe in pregnancy and commonly women don’t drink it. It would be like seeing a woman drinking a glass of wine and being like SHE’S DEF KU lol. Hhaahahahaha.

I’ve experienced this (maybe jokingly?? not sure) from my IL’s when I refuse an alcoholic drink, especially if I push off 3 or 4 offerings.  In their defense, most of them (DH’s sisters, bro, & parents) are not big drinks and I actually do enjoy my drinks Wink), so I have a feeling it will be hard for me to deny to people when I REALLY can NOT drink.

I’m also guilty, though, of my newlywed friends’ “not normal behaviors” and if they’re pregnant.  I haven’t been right on any of them to date, so I am sooooooo happy I always keep them in my head only!

I’ve had this so many times, I’ve stopped counting. Every time I refuse alcohol, when DH and I announced our wedding date, when we got married etc. My SIL was sure I was pregnant once because I started taking vitamins!!

We just bought a bigger car and people are just assuming it’s because we’re expecting. We’re not, but we are (secretly) TTC.

When we announced we were pregnant to my in laws (we got pregnant very soon after our wedding, but definitely AFTER) my MIL proceeded to say “oh, I thought you might have been pregnant at the wedding”.. umm, WHAT?! I was drinking all day, and wasn’t bloated or anything?

She just sucks, and always makes terrible insensitive comments so I shouldn’t be surprised but still.

My mom said my aunts were calling me out at Christmas.  They thought I’d gained a little weight around the middle.  I’m 8 weeks pregnant, and actually have LOST weight since finding out, but I guess my pants are getting a little tighter.

@MrsSawyer:  MIL’s suuuuck sometimes. I just laughed and laughed and laughed one time when I was engaged and someone said, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that FMIL and FML are so similar. Haha…my MIL has good intentions, but she could also use a filter. And an off switch. I’m going to hell 😛

I am lucky that when I do get KU, I can use the excuse that my stomach hurts, or my head hurts, or I can’t drink bc I will get sleepy and can’t study later.  I always seem to have some kind of ache/pain/illness going on, so that is definitely not a change for me. I also have the luxury of being young, only married for 6 months, and in medical school, so everyone just kind of assumes we would be trying to be extra careful in avoiding pregnancy and no one asks the “are you KU” questions yet. I get asked on a fairly regular basis if I am pg. Recently, I was at a party and wasn’t drinking (actually thought I was pregnant but ended up not being) and I got multiple comments like, “Hmm, you are not drinking, wonder why?!” etc. etc.

I feel like I have to have a drink whenever I at the inlaw’s (to ward off the baby comments). They know we’re now ttc yet, though MIL has made it very obvious that she’s anxious to have a grandchild. Just found out that SIL has been trying for c 2years (she won’t talk about it so not sure how long, but they’re at the looking into IVF stage). Also found out that another relative has been trying for 2 yrs also, and just had second mis-carriage…

I’d love a baby soon, but DH isn’t ready. Plus I know it would upset others if I was first to announce, hence why I’d rather drink and avoid those discussions, even if I’m not feeling in the mood.
