I wish people would be able to see mine, but it's on my lower back. I'm going to make sure the photographer gets a pic as I'm putting on the dress!
Hey - I have two tattoos. The one on my back will be covered because of my dress, but I am not covering the one on my wrist :)
The one on my back is an angel - in memory of a good friend of mine, who passed away at the young age of 15.
And the one on my wrist is a dancer to honour my passion :)
I have a big one on my shoulder that will be showing. I wanted to cover it (Grandma's gonna have a heart attack) but my dress has netting over my entire back, and I just KNEW I'd end up with makeup smeared all over it if I tried that. I just keep reminding myself that if that's what people want to talk about on my wedding day, it just makes them look petty. And hey, at least it matches my color scheme....
I have a small tattoo on my ankle which I hadn't even thought about covering. Granted, it won't really show anyway since I have a long dress, but it has become such a art of me that I hardly notice it let alone ever think about covering it. I want to have some fun shoe shots from the wedding, so it will probably show then, and I'm excited about that!
Oh, and it's "ahavah" (In Hebrew), which means "love", but more specifically is an action verb and seems, to me, to imply a much stronger, more unconditional, and more accurate definition of love than our English word does.
My lower back tattoo will not show (unless I go with a *really* low-cut back!), but if I had a visible tattoo, I definitely wouldn't cover it. I made the choice to make it part of me, and I'm not hiding it for a wedding, even my own!
Mine will be hiding, no way to be shown without being a totally unclassy person. It is right between my hipbones on my abdomen and goes all the way across. I love it, I have had it 4 years and my family has no idea. Just becuse they are old fashioned and I dont want the drama of it. I want another but will wait until after the wedding for that one.
I have a huge tattoo on my shoulder cap of a lilly and a pair of shears (i'm a hairdresser) on my right forearm. Theres no way i'm covering them! I also have some hearts on the back of my neck that will most likely be seen unless i wear my hair down, which probably isn't happening because i'm getting married on the beach! I have a couple of other tattoos as well, but none will be able to be seen. Its my wedding, and its about me. If i didn't want people to see them, I wouldn't have gotten them.
I have 2, one on my lower back and one on the top of my right foot. Doctorgirl, I love your idea of having the photog snap a pic of it while putting on your dress. I'll have to mention that to mine as well. As for the one on my foot, I want to have one of those cool "shoe shots" so it will be seen in pics as well. Sometimes I wish I had a huge one somewhere visible just to piss off my dad. Oh well, in my next life :)
I have three: one on my lower back, one on my right hip (both of with will be covered by my dress) and then one that covers the top of my left foot. I'm actually having trouble finding shoes that don't cover the one on my foot, because I love that one and love showing it off!
I have one on my right wrist that I definitely wont be covering up. My mom asked if I'd be buying tattoo coverup but I told her its a part of me, there's no need to hide it.
I have three tattoos and they will be covered by my dress. At least, I'm pretty sure they will. My newest tattoo I got a week ago yesterday and it goes up to just below my bra line. We'll see if my dress covers it up, but if not that's fine because it kind of goes with my dress. Um, I'll post a picture of it so you kind of know what I'm talking about.
I currently have four, and by the time we get married I'll have two or three more. A few will be visible in a dress, and I don't intend to cover them.
I have an ankh on my right upper thigh (covered by dress, obviously), song lyrics down the side of my left leg (covered as well), a treble clef on my left shoulder (visible) and one on my right forearm that requires a lot of explanation to tell you what it is. But if you just want to see it, see here.
FI and I plan on getting small matching tattoos at some point, and mine will be on the back of my neck (visible). I also plan to get a couple on my back within the next year and would love to have them visible at my wedding because they represent a huge personal victory in my life.
I've got a good sized star on my upper back and I didn't cover it! I can't wait to get back my pro photos - they took a few specifically to make sure it showed!
<span style="font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: 'Verdana','sans-serif'">I'm debating covering mine. It’s between my shoulder blades, right in the middle. I'm wearing a birdcage veil and a strapless dress so it will definitely be shown.
I have a small tattoo on my foot. I won't be covering it because I'm proud of its significance and I love it!
I have an armband on my left bicep and another tattoo on my right shoulder blade. Both are native designs from the island where I grew up, and both will be visible on my wedding day. Mr.Rain loves them both and is looking forward to "showing them off".
I guess i am the only one who deeply regrets my tattoo. I have one on my hipbone that I got on my 18th birthday with 2 best friends. We arent friends anymore but I wouldn't get rid of it for anything. It was my first move as an adult! however, on my 19th birthday I got one across my lower back and I now wish I wouldn't have. Luckily for me, both will be covered.
yes and no, the one on my wrist will be showing, the ones on my hips? not so much :)
I have a tattoo (peach blossoms) but it's on my lower back so it won't be showing. :-( However I'm pretty sure Doctorgirl knows what's up and I now have a photo to the must-take list. Yay!
I thought about this one for a long time. My entire family and my fiances family know that I have tattoos. I had a Bolero made for me in case it gets chilly, but it is so darn cute, I decided to wear it for the entire wedding. It just happens to cover up my back tattoo, so it made the decision for me. So you could wear a Bolero or Jacket if you want to cover up back tats.
This is the one that is visible and no I am not covering it. I know a lot of people will not agree with what we did, but its my wedding day and what better day for them to find out than a day they can't tell us anything! It is on my left shoulder/back.
Oh, and I LOVE The Last Unicorn!
I have a few... two I regret (they're not bad, they just have no meaning), and one that I LOVE. Luckily the one that I love is the only one that shows.
I have one on my spine in my upper-middle back. It will be showing, and I think my dress frames it very nicely.
Seeee?
My parents, grandparents, siblings, and obviously my fiance know about it, as do some other family members I'm facebook friends with, but it will otherwise be a surprise to my rather conservative family. The comments should be.. fun, but that's alright. I'm not ashamed of my tattoo. It's very meaningful to me, I personally designed it, and I think it's beautiful.
I have two tattoos and will not be covering either one. I have a childhood cancer ribbon with the word courage through it (which I got as a symbol for my brother who has a brain tumor) that is on my left ankle and will be hidden during the wedding due to my dress. Though I do really want the photographer to catch some shots with my tattoo. Also, I have a grouping of colored starts on my back (pink, yellow and blue) that matches a tattoo one of my BM's has that will be visible in my dress. That will be a surprise for my family and friends (well, most of them) but it does go well with my dress.
I have seven tattoos. Violets behind each ear, the Celtic Spiral of Life on my neck, a poppy on my wrist, a star on my ankle, a heart on my hip, and a memorial tattoo for my son on my upper arm. Obviously, some of them are going to be visible. The only one that I'm fretting over is the tattoo on my arm. Most everyone knows the signifigance of it, but for the ceremony at the church I might try to do something to cover it up. Before we started officially dating, some of his friends and family called me "that tattoo girl" (which is ludicrous), but thay're decidedly more conservative than my camp. And his mom asked him nervously if my dress was going to have sleeves or not, so I'm not sure how big of a deal it's going to be. And actually my original plan was to have it redone so it was more lush and vibrant, and maybe the meaning a little more obscure, since still six years later, people still ask about it.
So, yeah. I am undecided...
I don't have one but the FI and his whole family each have one that are kinda part of the same series! The FI & his 2 brothers each have a diff variation of the 3 of hearts. His dad has a king of hearts and the mom a queen of hearts. It's a play on words on their last name so I def want the photographer to get a pic of all of them together. =D Especially one of the 3 bros together when they're getting ready.
mrsleopard, i don't have a tattoo (although i think if i did i would not cover it up for the wedding) but i'm commenting because i LOVE the last unicorn. i've been searching for it on dvd and can't find it, though! i can clearly remember the drunk skeleton, can't you?
@lavenderpug: Amazon has The Last Unicorn on DVD. That movie had a profound impact on my childhood (although not entirely a good one! I found it disturbing in a lot of ways...)
The one on my left calf will not be visible but the frog on my back will. And I have absolutely no intentions of trying to cover Froggie up!
SU, I love the idea of enhancing the tatt with rhinestones!! that's great. Not a bad idea, i may have to steal it, lol. I have 4 that will be completely visible. I think it's retarded to cover them up.
I have 3 tats myself , 1 lower back ( taurus sign) , my leg (a panther holdin a rose) and the back of my neck ( a shamrock ..i like the idea of always feeling lucky..lol) i'm not goin out of my way to cover them ..if it happens it happens ..but its no surprise i have them and i'm not ashamed of them .. My MOH has 1 on each arm ..and i gave her the choice , u can cover them or u can go like it is ..its no biggie to me ..and the last i checked the wedding was me and my fellow brat ..lol Noone elses is ..So i guess u should do what u want to do ..not what everyone else may want ..
I have one tattoo on my shoulder that I thought of covering, but decided against it, since I got in in memory of my best friend who was killed in a car accident four years ago. Everyone knows I have it, and my friend meant a lot to me, so I will display it proudly on my big day
I have a moon and star on my left shoulder that I want to cover. It's not that I don't like it, I just don't want it in my pics. Ya know?

I have one of The Last Unicorn - my favorite movie from my childhood; It's on my back so you couldn't see it. That isn't what it actually looks like, I couldn't help myself from posting a photo from the movie :)
Post what you have and if you're covering for the big day!
