My FI is planning on his cousin being his best man, who I have never met. The other groomsmen are two friends and his brother, all of whom I know well enough. But yeah, I have never met the best man/cousin. I guess it’s a little odd, but I never really thought about it. The groomsmen are his thing, so whatever!

@wisher558:  I know all the GM’s but remember, guys are weird.  They don’t think about these things like us women do.  I imagine he’ll be fine at the wedding, although you would think he would come and socialize.  Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus…

I know them all pretty well.  His best man is his brother, who I’ve known since we were kids.  Then there are his two best friends from home (also my friends since we were kids) and his three best friends from college, who I know well enough (we went to school in different states, but they all lived together so they were all there whenever I’d visit).  Then there’s my brother, who I obviously know.

God we have too many groomsmen…

I’ve known the best woman since we were 6. Then there was my brother, and his brother, and two others. I kind of knew one a bit through his sister, and the other one I met during the wedding planning. They’re all super nice people.

@wisher558:  Now that’s really weird haha!! Fi doesn’t even know what the hell is going on for the wedding weekend, never mind the GM’s. Show up dressed, that’s all I ask!! 🙂

@wisher558:  He’s important to your SO and that’s all that matters.

One of my groomsmen (DH’s oldest friend) I hardly knew. In fact, I don’t think I met him until after DH told me he’d be a groomsman. But he’s stayed a friend of DH, and I’ve got to know him better in the years since the wedding.

We got married last year. DH’s best man was his best friend that he’s known since they were kids and who I knew pretty well. His groomsmen were all guys he went to highscool and university with. Two of them were former roomates of ours, and the other I knew really well also.

I met my husband’s best man in person for the first time two days before the wedding and had only met another of the groomsmen once in person before the wedding. They are awesome guys and DH has known them both since college (so 15 years). We just never had the time to manage a get together before. I guess some might think its a bit strange but I didn’t care.

I knew all the guys DH had and he knew all the guys/girls I had.  I honestly would have found it really awkward if he were so close with someone that he’d ask them to be a groomsmen, yet we’d never met or he never talked about him.  I’d say the same goes for all of the friends of ours who were guests (can’t say the same about parents’ friends of course).

I knew the GM because one was dHs twin and the other was a family friend of DH that oddly enough grew up on the same place I went to college so he came down to help me out for a few days since I moved there by myself and didn’t know a soul in the area. We’re friends.

I would find him on fb  and get to know him. It’s not weird or anything, I mean he’s gonna be in all your wedding photos! Could be a super cool guy!

@wisher558:  I know half the GM’s and half of them I have never ever met in person.  FI used to be in the navy, so one of his navy buddies lives on the other side of the country.  The other two live where FI went to high school, but I have never met them.  However, I did text them extensively last year- I got their numbers out of FI’s phone and arranged a surprise birthday for FI last year with his two high school friends.  I sent FI on a plane to Dallas, they picked him up, and they all went to a Cowboys game together (it’s his team).  I definitely don’t know them wekk though.  Looks like I have the rest of our lives to get to know them better!

I know all of mine very well, especially the best man! Three are his brothers and one is his best friend I have hung out with on multiple ocassions. I love them all very dearly. However, FH has a lot of friends who I haven’t met because they live in different parts of the country. So if he didn’t have so many brothers, I probably wouldn’t know some of his GM’s very well.
