So DH got towed and we live in a large city with many tow companies. You have to call the police to find out where your car is and of course give your license plate number! I have never understood how DH doesn’t know his and this finally became a problem today. He finally found it in an old email, but I was so annoyed. He thinks this is normal. I have always known my plate #. So just taking a poll to see how common this is.

@PatientBee: it should be in your insurance documents as well, or on a copy of the registration for the vehicle which you should also have at home 🙂

Multiple choice, yes. Short answer, no.
It’s easily handy to look up, though.

You bet! But I am a freak for memorizing numbers and codes of any kind. Even stupid things like library cards.

No. I was actually just thinking about this yesterday. I probably should. Though if I needed it, I could find it pretty easily.

@shaka: LOL!! I love this answer.
I do know mine, but only because I came up with a stupid (and inappropriate) phrase that matches the letters + numbers.

I know mine; never know when I might need it.

I always forget the last number, but it’s one of 2 in my head, so that’s usually good enough to look up and I can always double check. I knew DH’s licence plate number on his old vehicle before he did, it was kind of dirty. No clue about his work truck now.

I’ve definitely memorized mine now and before. My parents always memorized theirs, too. Seriously, it’s 6 letters/numbers. It’s not too hard and you probably look at it on a daily basis as you walk to your car every morning to get to work.

Yep! Mine is super easy because it’s from my alma mater so it’s the school’s initials and then 4 numbers. My mom has the same plate, with 1 number difference, so I always remember mine from parking behind her.

I used to until I moved. :/

I took a pic of mine on my cell phone so I’d always have it.

I have a weird thing about remembering license plates. So yeah, I know mine, and many other peoples’

@MsGinkgo: Insurance actually doesn’t have it! I thought so too and actually called my insurance company and they only had the vin.
