My cousin who got married last August, had a dress very similar to that (except with straps) and it was an eggplant purple. It's lovely!

I think color palettes are moving away from being season-dependant. I love that and I think it's fun and bright and pretty. I don't think you have to be tied to "summer" colors at all.

My wedding is in less than 2 weeks now (OMG) and my colors are black and white with a plum/deep shade of purple as the accent color...so go for it!
Yes, that's a pretty dress and purple is such an elegant color. My wedding was a month ago and was all purple and silver. My sister, who was the MOH, wore a very similar dress but with some silver accents and I loved it!!!

I love it!! You never see purple as often, so it's a nice change. The only problem would be if the guys don't like wearing purple vests, but I'm sure they could be coaxed!

My wedding is in the end of May and we're doing the same color purple but my BM dress is metallic. The flowers will be the same color purple as your pick!

I think it's a beautiful color. But keep in mind that not everyone is comfortable wearing strapless. If straps could be added for those who wanted and/or needed them, I think it would be a beautiful dress as well. It's definitely cute but I know that I would never be comfortable wearing it as is and I know other people who feel the same about anything strapless.
You didn't indicate time of day; for me, if it's a day wedding, I'd go with a lighter shade. Evening or reception in the evening, then the color is okay. The dress is very nice.
Yes! I'm looking at similar colors for a lte summer wedding.
It's very pretty...I voted the second option, though want to expand. It's a very nice dress, and very nice color...it definitely feels like an evening color, so if it's a night-ish wedding, I'd say that would be okay. I think f softer and pastel colors, but then again, my friend is having navy BM dresses for an August late afternoon/evening wedding.
They're both beautiful, and if you like the color, I'd say go for it!
