So I like to keep a clean house, but for some reason I’ve never been one to wake up and make my bed. In college, I’d only make it if I knew someone was coming over… However, I always thought that once I got married I would make the bed every morning.
I’ve been married a few weeks now (yay!) and, er, that hasn’t happened. Just curious: Did anyone get married and suddenly start picking up good habits?

No one comes in my room other than Fiance so I only make my bed when I change my bedding 🙂 so every other week it gets made lol

Fiance always sleeps later than me in the mornings, so he usually makes the bed 🙂

sometimes, when i dont sleep in and have time to do a few things before rushing to get to work on time

When I was growing up and living in my parents house, I HAD to make my bed or I’d get lectured. When I got into college, I HAD to make my bed while I lived in the dorm. Our bitch of an RA would leave you a note if things were not to her specifications, and believe me, they were nearly impossible to meet, she would bust up in your room at random times, whenever she wanted, to see if you’d cleaned up.
When I moved out of the dorms and into an apartment, I NEVER made my bed. It was bed making rebellion! Now that the newness of living alone is over, I typically make my bed when someone comes over or when I change the sheets.

One of the answers should be “Only when company is coming”, because that’s what I would have answered 🙂

i saw on dr. oz that actually, germs and bateria builds up more easily if you make it becuase you keep everything you sweat out and stuff in the sheet rather than airing it out and letting the sun kill it

I do, everyday! I love crawling into fresh sheets that are all pulled tight and tucked properly… mmm 🙂 it’s like being in an hotel!
Plus Fiance and I kind of live in our bedroom (we share a house with 4 other people. Unless we’re in the bathroom, our bedroom is the only place we get any privacy or time alone). We eat dinner on our bed everynight, it’s also where we play games, read, watch movies, hang out, drink, anything. Our bed is not just our bed, it’s our couch and our dining room table

@sheryl: Yay! I’m actually being clean by being messy 😀

I make it most days unless the alarm is particularly harsh that morning. When its an easy morning, Fiance and I will make the bed together. He is definitely neater than me so I have to make some effort. 🙂

Religiously. I have some serious OCD-like tendencies and that is one of them. If we’ve been out of bed more than 15 minutes and it’s not made then I start to get antsy. Fiance is getting very skilled in bed making, though, so I try and let him do it once in awhile. 😉

I have a hard time sleeping when I crawl into bed at night and the sheets aren’t straight, and Fiance doesn’t care so when he makes the bed sometimes the sheet is like at the bottom even and the comforter is just thrown over the top… so needless to say, yes, i make the bed every morning, and sometimes two or three times a day because Fiance has a second job and comes home and sleeps in the bed for a bit at odd times!

sometimes. my roommate freshman year of college always made her bed, and it made the room look soooo much more organized and tidy that i started to as well, but hubs really doesn’t care, and our room is so small that it’s actually hard to make because the edge of the bed is so close to the wall…i often try to straighten it up at least if not make it all the way, at least when i get in to bed. i hate when my toes stick out of the bottom of the blanket, which i also pull up to around my ears

I said most of the time. I’d say there is usually at least once a day a week where we laze around and sleep in and there just isn’t any point to it. But usually I make it. I just have this thing about liking things to look orderly, and I like the feel of getting into a made bed, with smooth sheets.

We were just talking about this yesterday, so I was happy to show Fiance that most people had responded sometimes or maybe 🙂 We usually don’t! Fiance said, “We should really start making the bed,” which in guy-speak usually translates to “You should really start making the bed.” I do agree it looks nicer and it’s nice to climb into a neat bed at the end of the day, but general laziness usually prevails!
