My BM dresses are Vera Want from DB. Our GM rented their tuxes at Men’s Wearhouse. We didn’t know they are the same company! All I had to do is tell them the color and they were able to match it exactly with their Vera Want Tux Collection.

Our groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos (and some were in military unfiroms as well) and our bridemaids were in different styles and colors of long chiffon dresses ranging from a soft champagne to a darker pink. I’m not a fan of the matchy-matchy look or colored ties/vests. We tied the look together with the bouts and bouquets.

Miss Coral:  I said “contrasting color” because my BM dresses were purple but the GM all wore tuxes so they had black ties. 🙂

Miss Coral: My BM dresses will be navy and the groomsmen will have coral ties, so coordinating, not matching. In your case I would either do a coordinating color of tie if the dresses are all in the same color family (e.g. if your dresses are all shades of blue you could do red ties or whatever). If your dresses are different colors entirely then I would do a tie that coordinates with the tux/suit and is a neutral (e.g. black.)

Our groomsmen wore kilts and the full outfit that goes with that, so they wore black bow ties. I actually picked the colour for the bridesmaid dresses based off of the colours in the kilts. So they did somewhat match, but not really.

They’ll be the same color, but not the exact shade. My girls will be wearing dusty purple gowns, and my SO really wants his guys to all wear different shades of purple bowties in various patterns, so they can be unique. I have no problem with this, I think it’s really cute…I only wonder how he’s going to make his bowtie stand out!

The ties were all grey/silver and black patterns, but none in a traditional wedding pattern (which would be black and soccer Houndstooth or glen check).  They were coordinated with the groomsmen’s attire.  I selected a bunch I liked, and let the groomsmen pick from amongst them.  One was a mainly blech, with some silver, repeating geometric pattern, one was paisley, and one was a striped pattern with a herringbone element.  I wrote a burgundy with light blue dots.  The guys wore grey suits and I wore morning dress.

I’m doing striped ties that have 3 shades of purple. The dresses match 1 of the shades. But everyone is the same.

I went to a wedding before where each girl had a different color and the groomsmen rented tuxes with ties to match their specific bridesmaid. But you don’t have to match. I’d look for a pattern you like with the colors you’re going for.

My girls will be in blush pink dresses and the guys will be wearing black tuxes with black ties. I’m not a fan of matching ties and vests to the dresses, particularly when the girls are wearing pink.

Ours will somewhat match. I went with AA’s Mediterranean Blue for BM dresses – which isn’t cobalt or navy.

Luckily, I found a solid tie at Macy’s that matched very darn close for FI’s tie! We ended up getting the GM’s ties at JCP that are close to the blue but with a little pattern/texture to them so they stand out some. Then, we also purchased ties for our dad’s that matched, and were a more multi-blue stripe so that they would coordinate too.

We had contrasting colours. The BMs wore navy and blush dresses and the best man, ushers and both fathers wore red ties.

Here you can see my SIL in her BM dress and my FIL with his red tie (Also my husband and MIL)
