@NoOneYouExpect:  It’s just a nail painting trend. It has nothing to do with being engaged or married. Just like a couple years ago it was trendy to paint the tips a different color, etc…

It is a trend I really don’t like.

I really dont like the pointy nails trend. Looks too costumey and I apologize if anyone likes it but its not my taste.

I tried the whole “painting the ring finger a different color trend” and I swear it made me feel like 12 years old. My DH did not like it at all either so needless to say, I won’t ever be rocking that look again.

I adore it. It’s called an accent finger and it can be any finger, not exclusivly the ring finger. So nothing to do with being engaged or married! 🙂

@sheepandbear:  OMG its disgusting. I think they are doing it now because of the singer Rihanna now? Im all for round or square but this will never be requested from me when going into the nail shop:

@NoOneYouExpect:  When I was in high school I used to do it. Didn’t do the middle finger because… well, try showing that off. Hah hah. The Index finger is the one the polish comes off from first. Same with the thumb, and the pinkie… eh.

This was a trend I took a big pass on. Actually, a lot of recent nail polish trends are kind of ridiculous to me. I love nail polish, but like with anything else, MOAR over-the-top detail is not always better (in fact, it usually isn’t).

3D nail art is my least favorite though…it gives me the willies for some reason. It also seems that it would be impossible to go through basic life motions with 3D crud jutting out of one’s fingertips. But I guess they must manage somehow…the real problem is, it gives me the total willies.

I’m scared, because it was big in Asia for a while but didn’t look like it was coming over here, but, ack, now it does appear to be coming over here… I’ll take the “ring finger painted in a different polish” fad over this, any day (and this is not even a particularly egregious example BTW):

@joya_aspera:  OMG I cant stand the 3D nails either! I think they have to use an old toothbrush to get those clean and even with that it probably wont get all the crud out!

I usually paint my nails all the same color, but then I throw a different color nail pattern stamp on my ring finger on both hands.

Depending on my mood I will paint my ring fingers differently. Right now I have a very soft pink on and silver glitter on my ring fingers. I enjoy adding something subtle to add a little visual interest
