@MrsPanda99:  I don’t have a dog so I can’t vote.  But I have a question for you – how do you think of all these great thread topics all the time?  LOL!!

@MrsPanda99:  Ugh I hate that too. Its not just the gross factor, but an actual health concern. if the owner isnt responsible to pick up their dog’s poop- I always thingk: are they putting flea and tick prevention on their dogs? Is the dog on heart worm medication? are they keeping their pet updated on vaccines? Is this dog well trained?

One of the neighborhood dogs kept pooping in our tree lawn, and the owners didn’t pick it up.  1) Gross 2) I had a puppy that wasn’t fully vacinated and wanted to sniff and put everything in his mouth.  Hubby said if he ever catches the owner and dog, he’ll run out after them.   I pick up my pup’s poop right after the fact.

I always do. I carry a treat bag (for training and distraction) that also has a little pocket for poop bags on every walk. There have been emergencies where we didn’t have one, like on a trip, but we do our best to bury it in that case.

If there’s other poop nearby, I’ll pick it up too.

The one rule I consistently break is we’re not supposed to put poop in any trashcans. You are supposed to bury it on your property or flush it. We bury as much as we can, but we do put a lot in the trash.

When I lived in an apartment I picked it up unless it was some type of smushy diarrhea, then I wouldn’t touch it with a 20 ft pole ( boxer mix, terrible stomach issues)… now that we have a yard I don’t– I either let DH deal with it when he mows or it is overcome by the elements.

Always.  Every dog owner is an ambassador for other dog owners.  My dog is always on a leash and I always clean up.  🙂

And on an odd side note – I am an avid bicycle rider.  Where I walk my dog there are a lot of bicycle riders, and I taught her to sit when a bike passes by – seemed a nice courtesy for my fellow bicyclists.  I’ve heard horror stories about dogs jumping up and knocking a bike over or scaring the rider…. anyway it had an unexpected side effect – my dog hears the bikes coming up from behind me long before I do, and she will sit on the side of the path the moment she hears a bike!  So I no longer have to worry about getting in the way on narrow sections of a trail.  She’s my hearing dog!  LOL

My dog (Luigi, a Chihuahua) insists i’m punishing him if I collar/leash him -this has been the case ever since he was 8 weeks old – he’s now 9…and he is ‘trained’ to stay within eye distance and doesn’t run off.

We live in a townhome complex and he loves my neighbors patch of land in the front, so he poops in her yard…(i’m usually on our porch while he does his thing).

I will pick it up as long as it’s not raining!
