I am a biologist and I teach so my hands are often exposed to chemicals, frog guts and swamp waters, amongst other things. Although I love my engagement ring, I get a bit annoyed that I have to worry about it and often take it off. We are planning on getting simple two-tone wedding bands and we chose the design because neither one of us normally take our rings off. After the wedding I plan to wear just the wedding band and add the engagement ring when I know my hands will not be exposed to messy situations. How about you?

I wear mine all the time, but i work with hazardous chemical also and take mine off when i'm in the lab, using a diamond polisher, or handling any really hard metals and solvents.

I was a chemistry student so I was always taking my ring off and i hated that. now i'm an engineer and I mostly sit at my desk all day all week save a few lab hours here and there, so I can safely wear mine. I do take it off if i'm like, making meatballs or touching anything particularly corrosive in the house. It won't hurt the diamonds, but it's bad for the gold.

I wear mine all together all the time.  I have two diamond wedding bands I wear on either side of my engagement ring.  The only change is that now, I occasionally just wear one diamond band to the gym.  Before we were married I wanted to wear my engagement ring all the time even though I worried about it at the gym.  I still wear it sometimes but I don't feel like I have to now that I have the bands.

I worry about wearing mine at the gym, too, but I usually go straight from work and I'm more worried about taking it off and putting it in my locker. I like the way my wedding band looks like by itself, but I can't imagine not wearing my engagement ring.

A jeweler told me that since the wedding band and the engagement band are both platinum, I'll either need to sodder them together or wear them on seperate hands. He said they would get really scratched and the lifespan of the rings would shorten.

I know that I never ever want to not wear my engagement ring and once I have the wedding band off I'm sure I'll never want to be without it. However, I'm not sure if I want to have them soddered together for life ... or maybe I do? I don't know how I feel about wearing one on my right and one on the left.

I plan on never taking my wedding band off and only taking my engagement ring off to shower and sleep.

I voted yes, because I will continue to wear it ever day after we're married. That said, i don't sleep in it, wear it when I'm cleaning, working out, etc. so that won't change after we get married!

I wear mine both together 99.9999% of the time.  There have been a couple of times where I've taken my engagement ring off-like while painting a room and doing yard work.

I did get a simple wedding band to give myself the option of taking my e-ring off.  I teach young kids, so there are times when I don't want my fancy diamond ring getting yucky (aka with Playdoh or paint, etc).

We decided not to have e-rings at all, in part because we didn't want to have to worry about taking them off and putting them on all the time.  Our wedding rings are plain yellow gold bands.  I couldn't even answer the poll, because "never" was not one of the choices.

I will probably be wearing my engagement ring all the time... if I would do something messy, I'd probably take both my rings off.  I wouldn't want to risk doing something to either of them (and I'm a total clutz, so I'd rather be safe than sorry).

I only take mine off when my hands are going to get messy-gardening, mixing dough, painting, etc. Otherwise, I keep it on all the time.
