As you can see I am in high gear of designing the invitations! Haha
I was just curious as to what everyone’s preference is on the envelopes. I tried the A7 envelopes (I think, they are 5 1/4 x 7 1/4) with my pocketfolds and it was a very snug fit. I don’t know if they will work once the invitations, inserts and belly band are on there. I have not been able to find pointed flap envelopes in the A8 or A9 sizes. I kind of prefer the pointed flap envelopes. However, it looks like I might have to go with the squared off ones. I don’t know yet. I am going to keep searching. I even checked the envelope templates on PS and the biggest size is A7.

I don’t really have preference. I bought the squared off one because a) that’s what was available in the color I wanted and b) they were only $.05 each.

I had squared off envelopes but I do like the pointed flap envelopes much better but I have no real reason why . Both do the job very well!

I like both, but ours are pointed flap so that’s what I voted for. 🙂

I can’t vote, because I like both — just for different occasions, reasons, etc. Our wedding invites went out with pointed flap outer and return envelopes — but the Rehearsal Dinner invites I just sent out today (and will blog about next week) had square flaps.

See, I also feel like each envelope has its occassion to be used. I do not know why I like the pointed flap better either, but I do for the wedding invite at least. I think the square flap would be perfectly appropriate for rehearsal dinner invites. Not that they aren’t for the wedding invite also, but I sent my save-the-dates with pointed flaps. So I feel like anything that I do for my wedding invites has to match or top the look of the Save-The-Date Cards and I went a little overboard on those.

Paper Source carries an A7.5 which are 7.5" x 5.5" in a limited amount of colors. A8 are not proportional to an A7 if your pocket folders are already 5" x 7" Cranes makes a 7bar outer envelope which is also 7.5" x 5.5" but they only come pointed flap.

I like them both. I think go for the envelopes that are sold as "outer envelopes" and you’ll be fine… they are 7.5 x 5.5". You can get them at cardsandpockets.com, too.

I prefer pointed only because I like to put a sticker seal on them and they don’t look right with a straight flap 🙂

I love the pointed flap-they’re so classic.

I didn’t really think I had a preference until we got square and I really like it 🙂

i cannot say i have a preference. most people just care about what is inside. sorry i’m no help.

I really don’t have a preference. I do however prefer the squared envelope when it is lined, there is more space for the fukny/classy lining paper.

i like both, for some reason i associate pointed with more traditional designs and square with modern.
