Yes they need envelopes!  What size pocketfold are you looking at?  There are invitations called “envelopments”; they do not require envelopes.

People usually use envelopes with pocket folds! Otherwise you run the risk of things falling out… not fun.

Yes! You totally need envelopes. It’s weird that some online sites sell pocketfolds but not corresponding envelopes though.

If you hand deliver them then you can skip the envelope. But if you intend to mail them, you need an envelope because they will likely be battered otherwise, not to mention possibly losing vital information. You can find envelopes of all sizes at places such as http://envelopemall.com
