Do you recommend any particular gel manicure colors for a wedding?

I can’t over much advice as I have only had one Shellac manicure but you should try to find a place that does Gelish gel manis. That’s the only kind I have heard mostly good things about.

I get gel manis all the time…you will be spoiled for choices once you get to the salon! SOO many colors.

I wore Pink Smoothie by Gelish. It is a really nice light pink. I wore it with glitter on top, but alone it’s beautiful too.

Highly recommend getting the OPI gel manicure.  The salon that I go to tried every brand out there and all of the girls will only use OPI.  I had a gel manicure 3 times in a row.  No damage whatsoever to my nails.  In fact, they got to a great length and have stayed that way.  If anyone tells you the gel ruins your nails, they got a cheap gel manicure done.

I did OPI Mainly Lobster on my nails for my wedding.  So against the norm of pink, french manicure etc.  and I LOVED it !!  Had a ton of compliments on it too.

I am not sure what the color name is, but I always get like the 4/5 that they have on their little chart. It is the perfect light but not see-through pink. Love it!

Re: damage, I do think that over time it weakens the nails, but I’ve only had trouble when I get them for like 4-5 months straight. One will probably just leave your nails looking super-long, actually!

@chrissyb464:  Oh man, I tried removing it myself the first time I ever had a gel manicure, and it was horrifying–goop all over my nails, which then PEELED afterward. I highly recommend getting it done at the salon, lol. Probably more talented people than I could it at home! 🙂

Just wanted to add on about damage: I agree with @howsweetitis:  The damage starts occurring after 4-5 months straight.  However, it really doesn’t take much to turn that around either.

Also, agree that when you are done with that mani you should go back to the salon and have them remove it and give you a fresh regular manicure. It’s a lot of work/ not as clean when you do it yourself.

My salon doesn’t provide the names of the colors so I am no help there, but also think you should just look at the samples and pick the one that compliments well with your dress/ accessories/ flowers.

@chrissyb464:  they have some weird solution that takes it off. acetone just makes it become goop.

my mom gets gel manicures instead of regular ones. she loves the gelish polish colors over all the others that the salon she goes to offers.

I would reccomend Perfect Match.  I’ve been getting gel manis for 2 years now, and I’ve found that Gelish, Daisy… are all dull. Perfect match is bright and actually lasts for 2 weeks.  Irish Cream is a really pretty color.
