MsAnnaLytical    March 13, 2010   Orlando, FL--finally with my FI!

I remember the rain, how he almost fell over because he knelt on a slick part of the sidewalk, seeing the ring glint in the light from the streetlamps, and him holding me so close after he asked me The Question...but everything gets fuzzy after that.

I know I got  tears in my eyes and felt like I was flying, but I can't remember one single word he said as he expounded upon his love for me and how much he wanted to spend every day of the rest of his life with me. What?! Why?! I wish I remembered, because I know it was beautiful and heartfelt and filled with so much emotion.

Has anyone else had this problem? Do you remember exactly what your FI said when he popped the question?

I do not think I am ever aloud to forget.  It was not as romantic as yours sounds but it was sweet.  he proposed in the car while driving to the movies I remember thinking that he was joking and askinghim over and over again for 5 minutes.  i once asked if it was a 10 sent one from a candy machine. Poor man.  It was cute thos because he was so nervous and shaking and he had just got the ring back from being sized.  He talked about what it would mean to him and how much he loved me. Reached in his pocket, i thought he was getting gum, and he asked me " how a bout now?" I laughed at that. No way was I going to answer to that.  he asked again though. Aww... it makes me want to cry a little now. anyways, i asked him before to not show me the ring when he asked and he didn't, but it is the cutest.  Sorry.  i love that story.

You could ask him to recll that day and what it meant to him.  LOL although that does not always work.

sorry i went on and on

I remember that we were laying in my bed on Christmas morning and it was white outside (my first white Christmas). He had just woken me up so I was still groggy. I think it went something like this:

FI: "So I asked the rest of your parents."

    Me: "About what?"

(This is the fuzzy part, not sure exactly what he said, something to this effect) FI: "I would love the spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?

That is what I remember, not sure if it's exactly right because like I said, it was early in the morning and he had just woken me up. He said he was going to drag me out into the snow, but knew I don't like being cold, so we were cuddled up and warm. Do you remember his proposal speech? : wedding Icon Biggrin

Barely! He had worked on it for quite a while, so I made him write it down for me afterwards. :)

I don't remember his exact "speech"...and i wouldn't really call it a speech either because he was so nervous that he was fumbling for words. We were on a dinner cruise around San Diego harbor and he took me out to walk around the deck of the boat while most everyone was inside eating or dancing, then he said something along the lines of "We've been together a long time. And you know how much I love you" then he got down on one knee and proposed. It was so cute just because of how nervous he was. I remember more of the feelings and the environment more than his exact words. And I know DH doesn't remember a single word he said that night either :)

Lol, I remember every word only because it was so short!  It was New Year's Eve and we had friends over.  We turned on Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve show to watch the ball drop.  Right after midnight we were all hugging and shouting when they showed a guy proposing in Times Square.  My fiance looked over at me and said, "Well, I guess he ruined my surprise..."  Then he got down on his knee and opened up the ring box.  I started saying yes right away, so he didn't really get to say anything else for about the next hour.  Do you remember his proposal speech? : wedding Icon Biggrin

It was the day after Valentines Day, this year. I will never forget the look on his face as he asked me. It almost makes me cry when I picture it! I remember how we walked to the table and it was decorated with rose petals and champagne was chilling, how he insisted I eat an egg + toast and drink my cup of coffee so that I'm happy and satisfied lol Do you remember his proposal speech? : wedding Icon Biggrin and he kept toasting so that I would drink the champagne LOL. He stood up and walked away (with champagne flute in hand), I told him "Where are you going ... you should put the glass on the table. He came back and was like "Close your eyes" .... I did and when I opened them he was saying something, for the life of me I do not know what he said b/c I was mesmerized by his face and the ring! I started crying!!!!!!!! He put the ring on my finger.

It was really special. I told him later that night, "What did you say to me, everyone keeps asking." LOL

Of course I remember, because the only things he said was "Oh I guess this will work [bend down] MyName, Will you Marry Me?" He got so overwhelmed and nervous that he forgot everything he was going to say! So precious... Hopefully he won't do the same for our vows..

I remember him actually asking me to marry him, but the stuff he said before that is kind of a blur.  I just remember saying "Oh my God" over and over again. :)  Just like you, Miss Rye Bread, I remember how I felt, but not what he said exactly.

Just like MoSnow my proposal was so short because my FI got SO nervous. I knew it was happining before it happened because we were walking towards the excat spot where we had met 4 years ago, but as soon as we reached the spot he hugged me and when I looked at him he was about to start crying so I said "Baby whats the matter" and then boom down on one knee and his whole body was shaking like crazy and still trying not to cry and he just said "you are the best thing that has ever happened to me, will you marry me?" I said Yes! And he was so nervous he just handed me the box instead of putting the ring on my finger :)

He told me that he had a whole speech prepared but when the time came, he just got so nervous and he was concentrating so hard on not crying that he forgot everything! It was so sweet and cute to see him that emotional :)

It's so fuzzy!  and sort of blocked out by my repeatedly saying "What are you doing!? What are you doing!?.  He had a whole speech planned and I was just too surprised/taken to comprehend all the nice things he was saying!  I wish he had paused to let me calm down so I could remember, but I think he was too nervous to stop :)

It's a little hazy, but it went something along the lines of "I love you so much - will you marry me?" We were in bed and I had just woken up!

    @cleve_girl01:

My guy isn't either!  That's the thing!! lol!  He gave me an actual speech.  He told me he prepared it in advance! It was beautiful.

And instead of just saying yes, I gave a tiny impromptu speech back then said yessssssss and pushed him in the snow and kissed him!

hubby didn't make a speech--we were playing scrabble, and when i got up for a second he spelled "marry me" on the board and put my ring on top, and then just sat there grinning at me while i realized what was happening :P

There was no speech, but I remember the whole thing like it happened yesterday:

Christmas Eve '09, around 8pm, after we arrived back at his parents' house from a neighbour's annual party. He asked if I'd come help him organize stuff in 'our' room, so that our DD would have a place to sleep on the floor (she was originally in another bedroom, but Grandma had arrived, so the bed went to her). We figured that out, we made our bed, and after we had a little 'YAY for teamwork!' moment (cheese-tastic!), I was hugging him..

I told him I loved him, he told me he loved me, and BAM! He pulled out a ring box, asked, "Would you love me any more if I gave you this?", and opened the box..

There was no official asking (yet), nor did I cry.. I was just shocked..

He put the ring on my finger, and stated, "I'll take the silence as a "yes"?"

I won't lie, I was a little bit taken aback, 'cause honestly, I wanted the formal asking, so I joked that he didn't even ask the question. He countered with something like, "Do I really need to?"

Looking back, he really didn't have to ask (um, hello.. it was obvious what the ring meant at that point, even if I was shocked beyond belief), but he then formally, officially asked those 4 special words--"Will you marry me?, slipped the ring on my finger, and I graciously accepted. Actually, I think my acceptance was more of an, "OF COURSE! OMGGG, BABEEE!", but, whatever.

It’s easy for me.  It was pretty much all written out for me!  We were at my condo and I was getting ready to make a fast dinner before we headed out to see a movie.  He thinks up lots of movie and tv show ideas, and when he’s motivated he writes some of them out.  So while we were waiting for the food he said he had two scenes he wanted me to read. The first was a hand-written opening of a TV show pilot about a time-traveling cop.

After I finished that, he gave me a typed script called “Practice in Romantic Writing #1”.  It’s a conversation between a guy and girl who’ve been dating for awhile, talking about how they first met.  It’s similar to conversations we’ve had before, but not exact.  As it went on, I realized just how familiar the girl sounds and how serious the guy sounds.

Then the guy’s name changes to "D" on one line of dialog.  My heart and breathing sped up as I got the first inkling of what might be happening.  On the next page, the names are replaced entirely with "D" and "J."  And on the top of the last page it says:

D: J, Will you marry me?

    J: ?

He pulled out a ring and asked me out loud if I could tell him how the story ends.

     It ended very well.

My FI proposed in front of my parents so I guess he was doubly nervous. I couldn't hear/understand much of anything. I was even MORE nervous. There was too much going on in my head. I know that he was shaking and his eyes were all watered up and he was positively glowing. But the words are totally missing from my memory.
