I currently sleep on the right side of the bed. A part of me likes it this way with how our room is set-up because the hubs is now closest to the door. It makes me feel a little bit more secure. We didn't always have it that way though and I have a feeling that when I get further along in the pregnancy and my bathroom breaks become frequent, I will be taking his side of the bed as it is also in front of the bathroom door.
So what side of the bed do you sleep on? Is there a reason or it's just how it happened?
I sleep on the right side, so he's the closest to the door. I, too, feel more secure that way!!
I sleep on the right side if you are facing it cuz its closest to the wall. Its been that way for a while, every once in a while we change it up
Interesting question. I sleep on the left! No idea why but that's what my parents did too.

I have always slept on the right side of the bed (when facing it) he likes being closer to the door - I just don't really care!
I sleep on the right. It started like that so he was closer to the door (security for me) but when I moved the furniture around it put me closer to the door but I like my right side so much now we just never switched back!
Oh, maybe I'm mixed up. I'm on the right when facing the bed, but the left when laying down.
We're not married yet, but when I stayed with him, the first night (in my jetlagged rudeness), I looked at him and more or less growled, "Which side do I get?" and he put me next to the wall. And there I stayed. :)
I think its pretty common for the guy to sleep closest to the door for "security" and my parents do that too.... but honestly we have an alarm and i'm not that scared lol. i sleep on the left side (which is closest to the door) because the bathroom door is also there and i almost always have to pee at night so i wouldn't want to have to walk all the way around the bed (hey--- its a long ways at 4am!) heh.
i'm on the left side when laying down (right when facing the bed). Its close to the wall and the window... ( i like to be "cold" when i go to bed so i want to be closest to a nice breeze.. i know weird.)
i sleep on the right side when facing the bed like most of the bees!
and for the same reasons, he's closer to the alarm/door for security reasons
@Corgi - I totally understand the early morning bathroom breaks, lol... I am always trying to keep myself balanced while walking around the bed, sometimes with my eyes half closed. :)
i sleep on the right side too, but i'm closer to the door! But in our first place together I was on the right and he was closer to the door, I guess we just have our sides, for no particular reason!

That's funny, I didn't know the security reason was so common - we're the same way. Except I'm on the left, next to the window, which I suppose if someone REALLY wanted to put up a ladder and climb in, they could.
I am on the right side, and closer to the door too. We tried it for one night with me on the left, and it did not work out so well. We decided before we got married which side we would sleep on, because we both fall asleep on our sides and this way if we want to snuggle, I can be the little spoon. :)
I sleep on the left side. Because the way our room is set up, the AC blasts on the person on the right, I can't deal. He loves it though. I never really thought about the security of where we sleep. Either way I'm screwed because he's next to the same window that a theif broke into to steal our stuff. And I'm nearest the door, ah well, we're moving soon anyway! What's strange is that whenever we go away, we tend to just plop on the bed and sleep, with no thought or pattern to it.
I sleep on the right side, and I have no idea why! Because of furniture placement we're both equally close to the door. I am the closest to the bathroom but that doesn't really matter since neither of us gets up in the night!

If you face the bed, I'm on the left side. Mostly b/c that's where the outlets are and I have a humidifier PLUS a phone PLUS a lamp that gets plugged in.
He always sleeps closest to the door, so at my apt. I sleep on the left side (facing the bed) and at his house I sleep on the right side (facing the bed). He likes being closer to the door, I guess for security reasons, but we have always switched depending on where we are sleeping. It is weird that it switches all the time, but it works for us! When we move in together, it will be consistent though.
Yep, that's why I sleep on the side I do. Wherever we are, I sleep furthest from the door. Right now that means I sleep on the left side in our apt :) When we move into the new house, it'll be on the right.
I sleep on the right because if you sleep on the left, our cat wakes you up :)
On the left if you face the bed, so that would make it on the right lying in the bed. I chose it because I like to sleep on my right side and this poisition has me facing out of the bed that way.
Haha I just realized I'm always closer to the door! Maybe because I'm closer to the bathroom too.
one side of our bed is smashed up against the wall and I would feel claustrophobic if I slept there because it is hard to get out. I sleep on the right side when facing the bed because it is the only side that you can get out of and it is closest to the bathroom.
left side when facing the bed. no real reason but I think if we switched sides I wouldn't feel right! The door is on the wall by the foot of the bed and he is slightly closer to it.
wow, i never thought about security reasons! he has slept closest to the AC in our last place because he gets hotter and I am closer to the wall in this place because I am a bit messier :) My mom always slept on whatever side was closer to the door so she could get up for us kids if needed!
I sleep on the right side and I have no idea how that happened, but it's how we've been doing it for years.
I'm closest to the door b/c I get up a lot in the middle of the night! haha.
I sleep on the left side...closer to the bathroom door. I get up like a million times to pee or get a drink EVERY night! =)
I sleep on the right only because FH is a power pee'er and wakes up at least 2 times a night to use the washroom....
I have always slept on the left because I am a stomach sleeper and I face right when I sleep. Therefore I end up cuddling up to the right...Now I cuddle up to the gap between me and the bay window which displays the Olympic Peninsula mountians, haahaahaa
DH sleeps on the right because he is closest to the window, the tv and to his nebulizer, plus his aisle is a bit bigger.
The door is towards the foot of our bed, so I guess both of us are the same distance away from the door.
I sleep on the left if you're at the bottom looking at the bed. FI gets up earliest, so he took the side closest to the door so he wouldn't hae to roll over me each morning.
I start out sleeping on the left side, but if you ask Mr. Library, I end up in the middle every time.

It does work out well because FI gets up a lot in the middle of the night to pee/get a drink etc. But it doesn't matter what bed we sleep on, I want him to be closer to the door because I'm a chicken!
I'm on the right, closer to the door. Let's face it, he sleeps like a rock and if anyone is going to protect us, it's me (not him or the dog)... It's also easier when the dog needs to go out at night for me to not have to climb over my sleeping log! Oh to be able to sleep that deeply!
I sleep in the middle! I've never had to share a bed (yet) and I'm a cocooning blanket-hog, so I may not like it
