I’m just wondering how many people still smoke these days. I’m not here to judge or preach to anyone, but I’ve recently moved and it really seems that EVERYONE in my new town smokes besides me and Fiance so I was just wondering! Maybe it’s a regional thing to some extent or maybe I’m just noticing it more. Anyway, do you smoke?
I don’t anymore, but I used to from about my last year in high school to around my third year of university.

I learned how to smoke when I was 18 and remember smoking a bit during college (nothing more than a few at a time).
It was never enough that I got hooked – although, I did love that smoke ‘high’ from the first few puffs.
I can’t remember when I stopped doing it – I think it was sometime in my mid-college years or shortly thereafter. I probably smoked a total of 5 packs in my entire smoking life.
It’s really hard for me to be around smoke. We have city laws that ban smoking from inside buildings and even a new one last year that you have to be 20 ft. away from buildings. I appreciate that so much, as a non-smoker.
I’m not sure WHY I smoked to begin with, because I think I knew that it wasn’t ‘good’ for your body – I think it was more of a socially driven thing. I definitely didn’t fully understand the affects of 2nd hand smoke… and the research for 3rd hand smoke is daunting as well.

I hate ciggarette smoke. I cant stand the smell of it at all. I think its really unattractive as well.
Not knocking anyone that does. to each their own! 😀

No way! Never have and never will… I personally find it disgusting.

I did smoke for over 5 years. Quit cold turkey when I got pregnant with my daughter.

I quit smoking in September but will allow myself the occasional cigarette when we go drinking. It keeps me from smoking regularly and makes it to where it’s not a forbidden fruit. Eventually I think I won’t even want them while drinking.

I did, up until about 2 years ago. It was a deal-breaker for Darling Husband.

@sara_tiara: Ahaha OH – I KNOW! Believe me. But I didn’t want to get into the whole politics of that lest I offend anyone. 😉

@Juliepants: Knowing where you moved to I am going to say it’s totally a regional thing! Not to sound classist/judgemental but I think it’s a bit of a working class thing there. Stressful/physical jobs = need for a way to relax = smoking during breaks with everyone!
I don’t smoke, have never and don’t ever plan on. I have always had a hard time being around smoke!

@Juliepants: Hey, NO judgements! I live in Scarborough…I am in no position to judge!
@Ms. Martian: I agree. I notice the same thing when we visit FI’s family in St Thomas (lots of factory workers there)

I’m a social smoker – at least that’s what I’m calling myself hehe. I used to smoke heavily and totally cut back last year. Now I only smoke a couple during the day and when I go out with friends, camping and when I have a few drinks.
