As a kind of follow up to my post about possibly postponing the wedding date (still unsure)… I wanted to ask a question about wedding gowns. I have already paid a rather large deposit for my gown, which I LOVE, and it is in the process of being made as I type. When I told my family and bridesmaids about possibly postponing the wedding date their first reaction was, "what about your dress?!" i didn’t understand this question at first because I figured the only issue would be with the venues and possible fees regarding changing the date and such. But they all say that they worry I won’t like my dress as much anymore or might change my mind and want something different in 2009! Can this be true? I know my dress should be timeless, which I think it is… but it is a bit more "modern" in that it is a blush pink. But other than that, it is definitely not trendy and when I look at it now I think I will always love it…
But I was wondering how many brides with long engagements or now-married-wives out there wish they had chosen a different gown after seeing everything else that is being offered nowadays.

We have to post pone our wedding too, and also the first question everyone asked was "what about your dress?". I told them I couldn’t wait to clean the house and vacuum in it! I got so ticked getting that question over and over! Anyways, I still adore my dress. I sneak peeks at pictures of it everyday! I crave touching the fabric of it! And a year and a half down the road, I’m still going to be in love with it!!
Blush pink sounds gorgeous!!! I have colored dress envy though, I’ll admit!

I still love mine, and I first tried it on over 18 months ago! I ordered it over a year ago for my August 2007 wedding, and I love it as much today as I did in August! If you liked the dress enough to have it custom made, I’m sure you’ll still like it when your wedding comes.

I bought mine before he proposed. I loved it even after a 19-month engagement. Heck, when I go look at it in it’s box, I still love it.

I bought mine at a Filene’s sale two weeks after we got engaged. Eleven months later, I still love it. I guess it depends on whether you are swayed by fashion or are fickle in general. If you’ve wanted a pink or non-white dress since forever, I doubt you’re going to change your mind about that. Since you bought the dress, have you found yourself pining for other dresses, or do you feel pretty much done with the search? Sometimes I see pictures of gowns and think "Oh, I would try that one if I were still looking" but I don’t feel any serious desire to find something else. I got 100% silk, a designer I’ve loved for years, a style that looks amazing on me and which I have been fixated on also for years–everything I wanted–for a great price. I know in my heart I will never find anything more perfect.

I bought my dress when we first talked about getting married LAST July. We both knew it was going to happen (truth be told, I asked him about 3 months into dating "So, when are we going to get married?" and he said "I KNEW that was coming!" He said he knew I was the one after 2 weeks of dating.) Anyhow, I bought my dress last July, and we’re getting married this coming July and I LOVE my dress. It’s beautiful, I feel sooo pretty in it, and it makes me look wonderful! tee hee hee.
