I’m wondering how many of us take medication. Call it nursing interest, I guess.
I think I take a shitload of medicine. I also hate it.
Citalopram (daily)/ antidepressant/ 3 years (5 years total time on an antidepressant)
Prevacid (daily, but usually forgotten)/ hiatal hernia (reduces the stomach acid)/ 4 months
Zofran (as needed- usually 1-2 times a week)/ antiemetic (again for problems caused by the hernia)/ 6 months
Ambien (as needed- 1-2 times a week)/ sleep/ 1-2 years
Loestrin (daily)/ BCP/ 2 weeks

I’m 26 and only on BC. I also take Aleve as needed (by doctor’s orders) for a joint problem that I’ve had since I was 18 (basically one of my knees wants to pretend I have arthritis).

I take Zoloft daily to help my anxiety (panic attacks) and OCD (thoughts).
I take the lowest possible dose and it is amazing. It has really helped me to stop obsessing about negitive things that *could* happen and in doing so it has helped my anxiety and panic attacks.

i’m 27 and right now i just take birth control. i’ve started getting bad about taking it at the same time each day though, i think i subconsciously want a baby even though we aren’t planning on ttc for another 2 years at least…
i used to have an as-needed rx for allegra-d and a nasal spray for allergies, but i let it lapse/run out and i haven’t been back to the dr for a refill.
wow i sound like i’m terrible with taking meds!

I take birth control every day, but I’m supposed to take Zoloft, too. I usually just take it during the winter months or when things get very stressful.

@panterapeach: Zoloft was my original medication, but I was taken off when the link it teen suicide came out because I was 16. I liked it ok, but I looooove my celexa!

i am 30 and i take Coversyl for high blood pressure. i have been taking it for about 3 years i think? i am in good health, not overweight, and the doctors don’t know why i have high blood pressure. i tried everything (diet, exercise), and couldn’t get it down, so i finally gave in to taking the meds. i think its because i am in gad school and when this insane process is over, i might see about getting off the meds and living a lot less stress free!

@dynamic_duo: My husband is super in shape and he has high blood pressure. It just runs in his family.
I don’t take anything regularly except a multivitamin now that I’m pregnant. I’ve never taken the pill (but the pregnancy was planned – our first at 29). Before I’d take Ibprofen for cramps. I used to try to tough it out through other sickness but now I’m all about expectorants when I get chest congested and Sudafed (and the Neti pot) when my sinuses get stuffy, but that happens like once a year.

I had an rx of effexor way way way back in the day for depression, but it made me want to kill myself so I stopped taking it 7+years ago.
It wasn’t until after that happened that my doctor
realized that I wasn’t suffering from depression but rather BP II, so it was a “oooooooooooooooh, we should have prescribed you X. whoops my bad.”situation basically.
I don’t medicate anything anymore really, unless I absolutely positively need to. One bad experience has left me sceptical.
