Sorry for the silly topic at hand, but I have to settle this once and for all since my FH and I are at odds about this. My guy is a fit guy, and has an 18.5 inch, short neck, and has always been very uncomfortable with ties, buttoning up the top button of a dress shirt, etc. He wants to wear a long tie because he thinks he looks stupid with a bow tie. I personally think he looks very handsome and I want him to wear the bowtie because I think it’s flattering and looks good with the tux.
It may be helpful to just get a sense from other ladies here to see if I’m biased just because I’m partial since he is my FH lol…. any help will be appreciated!
PS. I should also add that this is his HS senior picture…and he’s 27 now lol. I know it’s an old picture but he really looks very, very similar to this now so it will still be helpful for me to get your input based on this picture

I love a man in a bow tie, it’s so classic, but I think that the Euro tie is more modern. Does he want to be classic or modern?

I think he should wear whatever he’s comfortable with, you want him to be confident and happy when you get married 🙂

Ooh, tough. I like them both but I think I lean more towards the Euro tie.

I don’t think he is particular about being classic or modern, and unfortunately, he hates the idea of wearing ANY tie (and I can’t have him wearing no tie whatsoever…lol won’t budge on that) He just thinks the bow tie looks stupid on him because he has no neck, and from this picture, I so don’t see it!

If you are wearing tuxedos I would go with the bow-tie. Its classic and when would you get to wear one?

I think he should wear what he wants to wear, im sure you are wearing what you are comfortable in. In the end if he doesnt look ridiculous in a long tie then let him go for it, that way thats one less stressful thing for him on the day

He is going with a tuxedo, and I agree that this will probably be the only time that he will get to wear a tux….but he can decide what tie he wants when he goes to the tux place. I appreciate your help, ladies 🙂

I let my husband pick out what he wanted to wear … he decided on bow ties, since he wore ties all the time for work… I think he and all the groomsmen were quite handsome… The bowties they wore had small dots on them so it wasn’t a straight black tie… Thought I’d post a pic my handsome groom 🙂

I love Euro ties…. and I actually hate bow ties, so I am completely biased in my choice!
However, I would let him pick what ever he is most comfortable in. If he feels akward or uncomfortable during the wedding, it will be hard to hide it (especially in pictures)!

I love bowties. Classic James Bond.

I really love the look of a bowtie, too, and I tried to encourage Darling Husband to wear one for the wedding. Ultimately, I left it up to him, and he chose a long tie, and I was OK with that. I vote let him wear what he wants, even if you don’t like it. You probably wouldn’t like it if he forced you to wear a necklace you hated with your dress. <3

I think bow ties look really classy for tuxes.

I’m hoping my hubby-to-be chooses to wear a bow tie. I just think it gives a more “wedding” type look, and it may be the only time he gets to wear one!

I think the normal, ‘Euro’ tie would look better!
