Do you think a wedding dress can look boring?
I myself an not the biggest fan of bling or ruffles (for myself- for others they can be perfect) and have bought a vintage dress that is so simple and I do love it (I am in the middle of altering it) but sometimes I wonder if it is boring or bland.
That said I think so of the most beautiful brides have had really simple outfits- so what do you think? Do you think simple dresses can still be beautiful or do you think that are they bland – its your wedding day you should go all out!?
Would love to hear.

@justjade: For my own personal taste, I think dresses can be too bland. I’m not a huge fan of bling or a lot of details, so I kept picking out the most plain dresses and wide expanses of plain satin just doesn’t do much for my figure. I think if it fits your style, get the dress you like.

@justjade: I find some dresses easier to remember then others, some I remember but not in admiration. I agree that some of the most simple are most beautiful. I go for structure and clean lines or romantic classic over bling and ruffle anyway personally. But I seen nice over the top ones Do u have a picture of yours?

I honestly think most wedding dresses are boring. They’re typically some sort of white… and after a while, they all look like the same 20 dresses.

Definitely a wedding dress can be boring. Even ones that have a lot going on. A stunning dress can be simple or have tons of embellishments

Yes, i most definitely agree some wedding dresses can be boring.
I know each bride has her own unique taste. But I won’t lie, I’ve been to weddings before or watched weddings on tv or wherever where I was completely and totally disappointed by the dress.
I feel that a girl’s wedding should be an excuse to get all blinged-up in a really gorgeous gown. I mean it’s your WEDDING day after all.
I remember once looking at the facebook pics of a friend of mine online. She’s an absolutely gorgeous girl, but I remember feeling disappointed by just how boring her dress was. It was a really thin sheath-like wedding gown with no poof or train or ruffles or anything of that sort. And I was just like..wow she’s so beuaitful, she would have looked amazing in something a bit fancier-but thats just my opnion really.
I respect that another woman’s outlook on her gown may be completely different and at the end of the day as long as she’s happy that’s all that matters.

Nope! I think dresses can be tacky or outdated or generally WTF, but never boring!

I tend to like “boring” dresses, but to me simplicity is pretty. “Bling,” broaches, and beading hae never done much for me at all.

No. I have seen plenty I don’t like, but never because they are “boring.”

@KingsDaughter: Here are some of the seller’s pics. I have since removed the beading and long sleeves and have used that material to make fabric covered buttons with loops along the back.
It is handmade from the 1950’s- so has that typical silhouette with a slight rise at the front that I so love. The material itself is embroidered all over.

Can a wedding dress be boring? Sure, but it really depends on the dress. I don’t think your dress is boring. If you want to see simple done in a stunning way, just look at Kate Middleton’s reception dress. It’s only embellishment is a belt and a shrug, but the dress is gorgeous.

Can a dress be boring? Yes. But not because it lacks bling, ruffles, etc. Whenever I feel like a dress is boring it’s because it is ill-fitting and does nothing for the bride. The dresses below are simple but elegant and by no means boring.

@Eckle: You know – I’m curious about her “reception dress”
It looks to me that it’s the SAME dress she got married in but without the lace overlay. Do you think that lace was just a lace overlay/Jacket?
Sure she could afford two gowns but she’s always reusing and it looks nearly the same.

@JrzyGurl: Nice photos!
I prefer simple dresses because they’re all about the bride.
