I’m an executive assistant, 6 months ago my boss was promoted and given a hefty raise, I wasn’t given anything except a ton more work because of his additional responsibilities. In that same time the company laid off 2 other assistants and so I’ve been picking up their work which means I’m putting in 12 hour days every day and I’m salary so there’s no extra money in it for me. I just found out that the 2 executives who recently lost their assistants (who I’ve been helping) will be getting promoted in a similar way my boss was (basically taking on additional responsibilities for our subsidary companies). This translates to double the work for me and again staying at the same pay.
I personally feel because of the added work, the additional complex and confidential material I’m working with and the hours I’m working, I deserve to be better compensated. Is that rational and should I bring it up to my boss or just leave it alone and be thankful I wasn’t laid off?
Honest opinions very much valued here!!
